ABOUT THE ROLE:
In this role, you will report to the Senior Director, Risk Management and Employee Safety and serve as an expert risk consultant to over 250 healthcare entities insured by BETA Risk Management Authority. This position is responsible for reviewing, designing and supporting policy or organizational programs based on current legislation, national, statewide and local trends and make recommendations at the senior management level to enhance employee safety and mitigate risk at member organizations. Additionally, in this role, you will be responsible for data management and education components of risk management programs and services and promotes organizational employee safety initiatives. This position is eligible to telecommute five days a week, but must be a commutable distance from any of our four offices: Alamo, Glendale, Granite Bay, or San Diego.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
- Manages accounts of high complexity
- Collect and perform complex analysis of relevant data to draw conclusions and develop data stories. Analyze relevant data concerning employee injury, aggregates data summaries. Works with Risk Analyst to conduct statistical analysis of loss trends and evaluates other workers’ compensation and employee safety data.
- Conducts advanced literature review. Provides information to support employee or occupational safety questions posed by members
- Identifies standards, regulations, and best practice models to support and direct employee safety efforts.
- Develops employee safety initiatives, programs, services, tools, and resources to enhance safety at member sites.
- Serves as consultant to members of BETA’s Workers’ Compensation services. Provides high quality, standards and evidence-based consultative services to members upon request and proactively when a need is identified. May assist others to develop consultative feedback to members.
- May serve as consultant to external clients under service contract.
- Conducts advanced onsite hazard and risk assessments at assigned member sites. Prepares hazard and risk assessment reports and shares findings and recommendations with members post-survey.
- Adjusts and update member Service Plans based on risk and safety evaluations.
- Identify and proactively influence the adoption of BETA services and programs that are most beneficial to them. Explains key objectives of domains to the member and the expected benefits. Communicate and coordinate between member and domain owner from inception to validation.
- May independently develop initiative criteria based on research
- May lead work teams to produce key deliverables
- Responsible for education components of occupational hazard and employee safety programs and services.
- Other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience as an industry occupational health and safety consultant, or in a hospital or healthcare system required
- ARM, CHSP, CSP, CPE or CEES or equivalent safety certification required
- The Just Culture Company certification or within 12 months of hire
- LEAN training required
- Change management expertise
- Exhibits empathic communication and emotional intelligence.
- Works independently as defined and under general direction of supervisor
- Applies critical thinking and uses advanced problem-solving skills
- Ability to carry out multiple or varied tasks with long range goals (1-2 years)
- Follows channels to escalate to management when necessary
Hiring base salary range: Up to $155,000/annually depending on experience
