Full-Time Category Manager
Job Description
Summary
The Category Manager role is a collaborative and results oriented role in a wide range of indirect categories to work within the Global Procurement Team. The individual will be part of the Global Indirect Procurement Team and will collaborate with Category Managers and stakeholders to develop and execute services, develop benchmarks, sourcing and procurement solutions that are designed to drive spend and savings, and incorporate vendor management metrics that’ll support Mallinckrodt’s goals while achieving optimal pricing, quality and service levels. This role will support and lead indirect sourcing projects, including all key steps such as strategy implementation, support supplier negotiations, award recommendations, business case presentations and supplier contract execution in ARIBA.
Essential Functions
- Leads and manages the strategic sourcing activities for various Indirect Sourcing categories which may include Commercial, Marketing, Corporate Services, R&D and Information Technology.
- Engage and align with internal stakeholders to:
- Understand their business requirements, build the portfolio of Indirect sourcing projects and develop category strategies aligned to stakeholder needs and business goals.
- Identify processes, metrics, and tools to optimize procurement activities associated with effective and timely implementation.
- Deliver annual savings while assuring best quality and service from service providers.
- Understands internal and external market factors and their implications and build in the plan and approach to address them as part of the category strategy.
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure best in class total cost, product and service quality, continuity of goods and services, and alignment with internal stakeholder and company strategy.
- Manage supplier performance by establishing and stewarding appropriate Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
- Prepare monthly progress reports including progress on key initiatives, savings achieved/forecast, cost metrics and variances versus plan.
Minimum Requirements
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required, Masters degree in business, finance, or supply chain/procurement a plus.
3+ years of procurement/sourcing or consulting experience within a global pharmaceutical or life sciences organization preferred.
Prior experience with Indirect sourcing categories required – R&D sourcing a plus (but not required)
Experience with category management and multi‐step strategic sourcing processes, with results measured in terms of Total Cost of Ownership
Skills/Qualifications:
Exceptional track record of building relationships with stakeholders that has resulted in high customer satisfaction.
Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead formal strategic sourcing efforts related to designated categories.
Ability to act independently and can interface with internal stakeholders and suppliers via strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong project management, negotiation, and organizational skills
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Professional Skills
Organizational Relationship/Scope:
This position reports to the Senior Director of Procurement, and will work closely with other team members, key support departments, and critical stakeholders across the company.
Working Conditions:
This role works within a typical office environment located in Bridgewater, New Jersey. The current hybrid office work operating model is 2 days in the office and 3 days remote, however this hybrid model could change due to business needs.
