Position OverviewWe are currently seeking a Plant Power / Capital Projects Facilities Manager to join our team in San Antonio, TX. The Plant Power/Capital Projects Manager will interface with Architects, Engineers and Equipment OEM’s in the design and construction of our benchmark assembly plant in San Antonio, TX. This position will support our new $250 million dollar benchmark assembly facility, which will have the flexibility to assemble our Class 6 thru Class 8 products. This position will assist and works hands on with development of leading-edge commercial vehicle solutions to meet the needs of our customers and implement benchmark lean manufacturing and Industry 4.0 principles.

 

The Plant Power/Capital Projects Manager will initially provide support in a construction environment with hands-on field support of contractors, OEM’s and Navistar Operations. The position will require extensive time in adverse conditions during the construction phase of the project. The Plant Power/Capital Projects Manager will lead Level 1 and 2 control system selection, integration and implementation. This position will also have a supporting role on Level 3 control systems and facility equipment, working on 13.2 KV substations and 480 voltage AC switchgear.

 

Responsibilities

• Initiate and execute power delivery projects for entire plant, including design and implementation of facility and equipment electrical distribution systems.
• Develop and maintain schedules, lead project status meetings, oversee budgets, participate in proposal preparation, take leading role in client relationships.
• Evaluates, selects and orders equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective for the manufacture of company products.
• Oversees the installation, modification, upgrade and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. Maintains current records on equipment manufacturers’ technical notices, upgrades and safety issues.
• Studies equipment performance and reliability.
• Establishes programs and solutions for increasing uptime and for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process.
• Provides technical support to the manufacturing equipment repair and process engineering organizations. Defines and writes preventative maintenance schedules.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 8 years of product manufacturing experience
  • At least 1 year of lead experience

OR

  • Master’s degree
  • At least 6 years of product manufacturing experience
  • At least 1 year of lead experience

OR

  • At least 10 years of product manufacturing experience
  • At least 1 year of lead experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Able to communicate goals so everyone understands their role in achieving them
  • Promotes productivity and quality by motivating and inspiring everyone to do their best work
  • Experience designing and installing medium and low voltage power distribution systems
  • Experience with the following software – ABB IRC 5/RAPID, Siemens S7, Rockwell ControlLogix
  • Prior experience selecting and implementing shop floor and MES (manufacturing execution systems) controls
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA codes
  • Strong understanding of National Electric Code (NEC)
  • Experience managing budgets, evaluating proposals, interpreting contracts
  • Must be willing to travel internationally up to 10%

Highly desired:

·       At least 5 years work on 13.2 KV substations and 480 voltage AC switchgear.

·       At least 1 year of variable knowledge of all Facilities equipment:

o    ARU, RTU, AHU.

o    Cooling towers

o    Chillers

o    Boilers

o    Air compressors.
