Full-Time Communications Manager
Job Description
Under direction from the SF Port’s Communications Director, develops and implements the Communications Plan for the Port’s Waterfront Resilience Program (WRP), including the USACE Flood Study. This position will also serve as the primary content creator for the Port of San Francisco’s social media platforms. The position is 75% WRP and 25% Social Media.
The essential functions of this position include:
- Works with the Port’s Communications Director and WRP Deputy Program Manager – Planning to advance the messaging and inform the public around the Waterfront Resilience Program (WRP).
- Manages and collaborates with the WRP’s communications consultant for the Waterfront Resilience Program, including the USACE Flood Study, ensuring consistency with the Port’s overall messaging strategy.
- Manages the logistics of community, stakeholder and policy engagement, in consultation with the Port Communications Director, the WRP Deputy Program Manager – Planning and the WRP Deputy Program Manager – Engineering and Project Delivery.
- Ensures coordination regarding the Port’s Waterfront Resilience Program communications and messaging with PIOs from other City agencies that participate in the ClimateSF program.
- Works with Port and WRP leadership to help develop time relevant program messaging.
- Provides a staff link to the Port’s Waterfront Resilience Program.
- Creates Port-wide social media content and develops and executes new, timely campaigns for the Port’s social media platforms.
- Creates WRP-specific social media and web content and execution and/or directs the WRP communications consultant on development of this content.
