About the Role

As Corporate Development Associate, you will play a leading role in supporting corporate development activities to drive results across capital strategy, financial business partner activities and M&A execution. . This is a highly visible role that requires collaboration with cross functional teams, external parties and frequent interaction with senior management. 

The Corporate Development Associate will support capital strategy activities including existing and prospective investor communication, diligence support, competitive positioning and market research.  This role will also act as an internal business partner providing FP&A support through reporting, forecasting, analyzing, and performing ad-hoc modeling for our Growth & Product teams, and will be responsible for effectively communicating research and recommendations.

Responsibilities:

 

Capital Strategy & Investor Relations:

  • Support future capital formation activity, including drafting presentations, financial modeling and deal structure evaluation
  • Assist with all Investor Relations activities as the business scales
  • Interface with existing and prospective investors and effectively support reporting and analysis 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to access information and complete projects
  • Facilitate due diligence processes and ensure smooth communication with investors
  • Provide support in drafting presentations and financial materials for investor communication

FP&A Business Partnership:

  • Provide Financial Planning & Analysis team support to assist  completing monthly close, updating quarterly forecasts, managing annual budgets, and assisting in production of monthly reporting package for the leadership team and the board of directors 
  • Take a lead role in the company’s forecast modeling to build and operate robust and scalable financial models in support of the monthly close, forecasting and annual budgeting process
  • Drive monthly actual versus budget reporting & variance analysis: identify drivers and generate executive level commentary
  • Drive process improvements and participate in reporting enhancements with a mindset of continuous improvement as a critical business partner to the Growth & Product teams

M&A: 

  • Partner with senior management to review M&A opportunities and lead financial modeling, diligence and presentation development
  • Support joint venture and commercial partnerships across small to large scale partners
  • Maintain process and tracking of deal activities and business development partnerships
  • Act as a subject matter expert on financial modeling, valuation, and deal structuring
  • Evaluate opportunities and risks in potential transactions and provide recommendations
  • Conduct competitive positioning and market research

 

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years’ experience in investment banking, corporate development, transaction advisory services, or private markets investing with preference for experience in technology sectors such as software and payments
  • Experience with successfully executing projects across a wide range of corporate finance functions including capital formation, FP&A and M&A transactions
  • Self-starter who can excel in a fast-paced and fluid environment while working closely within a small corporate development team
  • Strong financial modeling proficiency, including experience and desire to take ownership of three statement financial forecasting
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA from a top tier school preferred
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills required
  • Keen, relentless attention to detail required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to gain respect of senior management, along with the respect of, and ability to collaborate with, internal teammates
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively while applying sound business judgment and quantitative analytics
