Dialogue School Counselling is a BACP accredited school counselling service covering Sussex and Surrey. We are recruiting for a qualified School Counsellor with experience of working with primary age children, to join our team and deliver a therapeutic service to the pupils of Downs Junior School in Brighton.
In this role, you will work closely with the school’s key contact to continue the provision of a high quality, ethical counselling service. This will include undertaking assessments with parents, agreeing a regular session schedule with the school and completing all associated admin in a timely manner. You will be required to attend regular clinical supervision and line management meetings.
This role is based on site at the school for one day per week – day to be agreed with the school

The successful applicant will be passionate about making a difference to lives of the children and young people that they work with. You will have a keen interest in working with primary aged children and will be familiar with using creative therapeutic approaches such as art, play and sand tray. You will have a counselling or psychotherapy qualification with a recognised training provider, Registration or Accreditation with BACP or an equivalent professional body and two years’ post qualifying experience in individual counselling or therapy with children and or young people. This will include working with risk issues. You will be confident in identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns and have experience of working in a school setting. You will also have a professional, flexible attitude with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage your time well.
