Job Role: Homeless Prevention Worker (Female Only)
Salary: £23,240 – £24,612 per year
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Additional Information:
- Full drivers license and access to car for business purposes
- On-call (1 in every 4 weeks), £100/week when on-call
- Participation in a Saturday rota, working approximately one Saturday in every four

The Role:
As a Homeless Prevention Worker (HPW) you will work within a multiskilled team. You will identify those individuals at risk of losing their accommodation and at risk of rough sleeping. The post holder will provide intensive and personalised support to address issues and help the individuals to maintain their accommodation. This role includes, but not limited to, liaising with landlords, benefit agencies, signposting, support with budgeting, referrals to adult social care, and extensive prevention work with our colleagues in Exeter Council’s Housing Options and Temporary Accommodation Teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish supportive, trusting and professional relationships with clients using a Trauma Informed Approach and maintain relationships with clients to deliver person-centred support through regular contact including home visits and to appropriate community settings
- Progress and track referrals made into the service
- Involve clients in their own support plan; representing their needs to existing services and preventing tenancy loss and/or rough sleeping
- Work in close partnership with the Rough Sleeper Prevention Team (RSPT) and with relevant external agencies to provide creative solutions which prevent rough sleeping
- Since job descriptions cannot be exhaustive; the post holder may be required to undertake other duties, which are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Experience working with adults with complex needs and challenging behaviours
- Communication, building effective relationships with clients and dealing with multiple agencies
