Salary Range: $50,000 – $60,000/year depending on experience.

Wayside Youth and Family Support Network is a regional nonprofit that provides an array of mental health counseling and family support services to children, young adults and families. Wayside works with families under significant stress due to mental illness, behavioral problems, addiction issues and other challenges. We also support youth who have experienced abuse, neglect and trauma. Our programs are in communities throughout Eastern and Central Massachusetts.

Wayside is experiencing tremendous growth and has recently expanded their development and communications department. The role of Grants & Development Coordinator will work with the departments Communications Manager and other staff under the leadership of the Department Director. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with – and learn from – a seasoned development professional who has years of experience and loves to mentor her staff and help them grow their careers and expand their skill sets.

The ideal Grants & Development Coordinator candidate is an excellent writer who has some nonprofit development experience and is ready to take on more responsibility, learn new things, and grow their career. This is not a glorified assistant position. Though 25% of the job is administrative, this is a position that can evolve over time as the department grows. What You Will Do:

  • Grants (50%) Help us further develop our current non-governmental grants program. We need someone who is proactive and wants to build on our already existing program (currently $330K+ a year). You’ll work with the Vice President to identify areas of need with the program directors, and you’ll work with the Director of Development and Communications on strategy, cultivating funder relationships, researching new grant opportunities, writing and submitting proposals, tracking awards, and reporting both internally and to funders. Excellent writing skills are a must!
  • Administrative (25%) Processing and recording charitable gifts in the database, generating acknowledgements, supporting events (occasional), and other tasks as needed.
  • Additional Writing as Needed (25%) Content creation for the website and annual reports, research and writing client stories, developing appeal letters – there is a lot to be done and you’ll be called upon as needed to help with additional writing projects


Minimum Requirements:

  •  2+ years of professional writing experience. Nonprofit development experience is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong relational and collaborative skills. You must enjoy working on a team.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and solve problems expeditiously.
  • Excellent employment references.
  • Willingness to work on site in Framingham at least three days a week.
