Full-Time Biology Laboratory Coordinator
Job Description
SALARY: $31,290-$45,371
LOCATION: Niceville and Fort Walton Beach Campuses
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare biology and microbiology laboratories.
- Set-up, clean, and maintain all chemicals, instruments, and equipment for all biology and microbiology laboratories.
- Coordinate disposal of biological waste.
- Sterilize and clean glassware.
- Coordinate inventory of stock room and storage rooms.
- Maintain Safety and Data Sheet (SDS) files for all chemicals in stock.
- Manage ordering of laboratory equipment and supplies as needed.
- Maintain biohazard waste records for State of Florida.
- As a part of the college’s risk management tool, annual mandatory compliance training is required.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Position requires daily travel between the Niceville and Fort Walton Beach campuses.

Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of B.S. in biology, microbiology or related discipline.
- Experience with growing and maintaining bacterial cultures and lab specimens.
- Must be able to work with formalin-preserved specimens.
- Ability to manage multiple duties.
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Employment contingent on passing background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with OSHA standards for laboratory and EPA standards for waste disposal preferred.
- Proficient with database management preferred.
