Established as a community non-profit in 1972, The Center provides targeted programs and services to the full diversity of the San Diego LGBTQ community. The mission of The Center is to enhance and sustain the health and well-being of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender, nonbinary, immigrant, and HIV communities for the betterment of our entire San Diego region. As the beacon for our regional LGBTQ community, we actively recommit to being a more vibrant, bold, innovative, safe, and modern center each day than the day before. The Center is sex-positive and provides advocacy and critical health and social support services to support our community members through all stages of life, focusing on our deeply held values of equity, social justice, and client-centered, trauma-informed care. The Center currently has over 75 staff working at five facilities across San Diego County.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Help Desk Technician, I will provide technical support and incident response to IT issues and requests. HDT1 is primarily responsible for troubleshooting and resolving computer hardware, software, and connectivity problems for all staff, including onsite and remote users. The HDT1 must provide prompt, reliable, and accurate information to users while maintaining effective communication. The HDT1 must be able to adjust and accommodate the skillset of users on all levels. This is a part-time, temporary position with an estimated 16 hours per week.

 

PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and maintain computer systems to keep configurations consistent with organizational standards.
  • Installs, connects, configures, upgrades, troubleshoots, administers, diagnoses, and repairs hardware and software for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices, including peripherals, printers, and scanners.
  • Develops and maintains complete documentation for supported systems.
  • Provide remote desktop support to both onsite and remote users.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows operating systems.
  • Triage and escalate unresolved IT requests to the appropriate support teams.
  • Documents, tracks, and monitors issues to ensure a timely resolution.
  • Interacts with all appropriate departments to restore service/ identify problems.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional Experience: Working toward a certification or degree or at least 1 year experience in a comparable role administering Windows and MAC OS environments.
  • Professional Skills:
  • Preferred Security + CompTIA, Network + CompTIA certification, or Microsoft Desktop technician certification.
  • Fundamental knowledge of networking and troubleshooting hardware/software
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills.
  • Technical Skills: Microsoft Office 365/Azure. Knowledge of Windows operating systems.
  • Other Qualifications:
  • Basic experience with various networking environments, technologies, and vendors.
  • Knowledge of various OS virtualization technologies is a plus. • Willing + eagerness to learn is a must.
  • Basic Knowledge of cloud-based technologies

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional Experience: Preferred Security + CompTIA, Network + CompTIA certification, or Microsoft Desktop technician certification.
  • Other Qualifications:  Experience working in non-profit and/or LGBTQ+ environment/culture.

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Compensation: The pay range for this position is $22.00 to $25.00 and is commensurate with experience. This is a Part-Time, Temporary, Non-exempt position with an estimated 16 hours per week schedule.
  • Benefits: This position is only eligible for the State of California regulatory benefits.
