The National Wildlife Federation’s (NWF) South Central Regional Center in Austin, Texas seeks an Outreach Manager to help advance the goals of the Texas Living Waters Project.  Texas Living Waters is an NWF-led coalition effort to improve the state’s management and use of water to ensure that sufficient fresh water is available to support abundant fish and wildlife along with thriving communities and a robust economy.  In this role your primary responsibility will be to cultivate, engage, and mobilize a wide range of partners and allies to support the strategic goals and aims of the Project. Areas of focus for those goals include water conservation, freshwater inflows, and the use of nature-based defenses and green infrastructure for flood mitigation.

In this role you will:

Forge relationships with established and emerging leaders to cultivate a high-profile group of allies willing to help advance Texas Living Waters goals.
Manage routine communications with these allies, and assist in the production of events intended to cultivate and deepen our relationship with them, with the goal of increasing their participation in venues related to Texas Living Waters interests.
Organize and facilitate meetings and information sessions with community partners and nontechnical stakeholders to increase their understanding of Texas Living Waters issues and needs.
Find common ground with key stakeholders to help shape the Texas Living Waters advocacy agenda, particularly in the area of flood mitigation.
Turn out appropriate advocates at public hearings, for public comment opportunities, and in other venues related to Texas Living Waters interests.
Mobilize grassroots constituents as appropriate in support of Texas Living Waters goals and strategic plan.
Work with the program’s Senior Program Manager of Water and other program staff to disseminate program messaging to stakeholders, influential players, the news media, NWF constituents, and the general public.
Maintain a data base tracking leaders, issue interests, asks and actions taken.
Write blogs, contribute to social media outreach, and develop educational materials as needed.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required
Demonstrated experience developing and sustaining strategic partnerships and alliances
Experience working on public advocacy campaigns
Direct experience in planning and organizing successful meetings and events to achieve strategic outcomes
Ability to communicate effectively, with individuals and groups, both in person and in writing
Creative approach to problem solving and demonstrated ability to work well in a collaborative environment
Ability to think strategically and prioritize activities to achieve maximum effectiveness
Preferred Qualifications:

Degree in Environmental Studies or related field preferred
Experience working with and engaging diverse communities strongly preferred
What else you should know:

Travel Requirements:  There will be regular local and statewide travel. You must have a valid driver’s license.  There may be occasional travel outside of the state as needed for relevant organizational meetings.
