NEW HIGHER SALARY: $35,788 – $62,628
 
The Challenge
We are looking for a skilled Automotive Mechanic/Equipment Repair Technician to join our Avery County Equipment team.
 
In this role, you will:
    • Perform semi-skilled and skilled small engine, automotive, heavy equipment, and mechanic work.
    • Service, diagnose, repair, and rebuild mechanical systems for gasoline/diesel/alternative-powered automotive and heavy equipment.
    • Perform mechanic work at various levels. Work assignments vary in complexity depending on the type of mechanical system.
    • Inspect and service easy to highly complex mechanical systems using advanced diagnostic instruments and software
    • Conduct parts/systems failure analysis.
    • Calibrate, adjust, and operate engine analyzers.
    • Routinely determine materials, techniques, and tools to accomplish work assignments.
    • Work on electrical, suspension, brake system repairs, and /or fit and repair more complex ancillary and specialized equipment.
    • Consult with a senior technicians or supervisors on more complex assignments.
    • Prepare paperwork for employment and equipment repair.
    • Perofrm vehicle body work in accordance with standard automotive body repair best practices.
    • Perform skilled work in the straightening and replacing of automotive bodies, fenders, panels and related parts.
 
What You Bring
    • Work requires experience in welding and steel fabrication/machining.
    • Experience performing preventive maintenance on at least one of the following: light, medium, heavy duty trucks, and/or heavy equipment.
    • A complete set of mechanic tools.
    • Commercial Driver’s License with “N” endorsement. (If you don’t have it, you can gain it through our on-the-job training.  It’s required within 360 days of hire.)
    • Knowledge of diagnostic software, tools, and equipment for trucks and heavy equipment.
 
Notes
    • A pre-employment drug screening is required.
    • We will conduct a background check for your past 2 years about controlled substances and alcohol testing.
    • Safety toe footwear is required.
    • You will be required to work during adverse weather conditions such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. that can lead to working extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays.
    • We may require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician.
 
Education & Experience
    • High School/GED diploma, and
    • 2+ years of relevant experience, or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
