Full-Time Costume Shop Supervisor (Theatre)
Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
- Individual will train theatre students in the best practices on costume construction, supervise them in safe and efficient execution of these elements for program productions.
- Individual is responsible for the successful execution of the costume design (either by qualified student or guest artist) for each of the three main stage productions the program produces each year.
- Individual maintains, oversees, and organizes a costume stock that is regularly in use in student productions, for rentals and loans in the community and otherwise in use in the academic program.
- Individual will supervise a work-study crew of 45+ labor hours per week.
- Individual will participate in instruction for the Costume practicum sections.
- Individual will design costumes for 1-2 productions each year, depending on the needs of the program, and participate with program faculty in the mentoring of student designers.

Marginal Job Functions:
- Contribute to the overall success of Theatre at Centre by performing other duties and responsibilities as required by the program.
Education and Experience
- BA or BFA in Theatre with Costume focus
- MFA in Costume Design and/or Technology
- Comparable experience will be considered
- Experience in professional theatre (regional, summer stock) is desireable
Knowledge and Skills
- Garment construction (patterning, draping, stitching, etc.)
- Database management (for costume inventory)
- Scheduling, maintaining and tracking budgets
- Ability to train inexperienced crew
Physical Requirements
- Limited pushing, pulling, lifting. Lifting would not exceed 20 lbs.
- Mobility on campus necessary.
