The National Wildlife Federation serves as the fiscal agent of the Alliance for Watershed Education of the Delaware River (AWE). AWE is comprised of 23 nature and environmental education centers in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. They share a mission to collectively increase and enhance constituent appreciation, knowledge, and stewardship of one America’s iconic waters, the Delaware River watershed.

As the Assistant, Delaware River Watershed Programs. you will help ensure efficient and effective operation of AWE. You will manage information flow and coordinate the development of various templates, contracts, documents and reports; track and manage fiscal accountability across AWE; and collaborate closely with leaders across the National Wildlife Federation and AWE. You will report to the National Wildlife Federation’s Mid-Atlantic Director of Conservation Partnerships.  This position is based in Annapolis, Maryland.

This is a part-time position, expected to work 20 hours per week.  Additionally, this is a three year position, with the possibility of being extended.

In this role you will:

Ensure that the operations of NWF’s Delaware River programs run smoothly and efficiently, attending to deliverables in a timely manner;
Work with the Director and other senior staff in coordinating all activities in support of NWF’s role as fiscal sponsor of AWE, including contracting, coordinating external meetings, supporting annual work plan development, progress reports, and budget tracking;
Coordinate and implement the annual fiscal management calendar for AWE, including developing calendar of grantmaking, engaging AWE partners and NWF Finance and Operations staff in reconciling financials on a regular basis, and providing necessary information for reporting to the AWE Steering Committee and funders;
Develop templates to ensure a consistent and healthy flow of information across AWE;
Assist the Director in drafting correspondence, documents and reports; maintain records; and update various management and reporting tools;
Initiate and respond to meeting requests; develop agendas and other meeting materials as needed; plan and implement meeting logistics; make necessary travel arrangements; and process expense reimbursements;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Self-starting, with the demonstrated ability to work independently and, when necessary, as an integral member of the team
Professionalism, with superior interpersonal abilities, written and verbal communications
Excellent attention to detail, time management and organization skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with various databases and financial management reporting tools
Passion for the conservation of wildlife and wild places is a plus
Preferred Qualifications:

College degree preferred
3+ years of professional experience preferred, ideally in a nonprofit setting; encore career applicants encouraged
Experience working with budgets and contracts preferred

Travel Requirements: There will be occasional regional travel required in this role. The Delaware River watershed encompasses Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, and you will have the opportunity to join AWE meetings and assist in engaging Alliance leaders.

Compensation: This is a half-time position paying in the range of $17.00 to $20.50 per hour. The National Wildlife Federation offers excellent benefits, competitive compensation, and a family-friendly, flexible work environment.
