Job Description
PROJECT MANAGER
The Electrical Project Manager has the ultimate responsibility for all assigned accounts. Additionally, the Project Manager must accept the final responsibility and accountability for the execution of all project contracts as assigned by management. These tasks are to be carried out at the lowest cost consistent with contract requirements and good business practices.
General Responsibilities
- Ensures jobsite safety is a priority; conducts site safety audits
- Actively pursues and generates business opportunities and cultivates relationships with both existing and potential customers while ensuring complete customer satisfaction
- Evaluates bidding and negotiating opportunities of assigned accounts
- Estimates targeted projects
- Takes profit and loss responsibility for assigned accounts
- Manages projects including project set-up, budgeting, scheduling, cost projections, contract interpretation, change order quotes, staffing, and close-out
- Develops and expands upon project prefabrication and planning capabilities to maximize profit opportunities
- Reviews plans, specifications, and estimate
- Takes complete responsibility for timely procurement and delivery of appropriate materials including reviewing quotes/bill of material, issues material releases, monitors material usage, expedites material delivery and arranges for returns
- Takes complete responsibility for project labor and productivity to achieve the project labor budget
- Assists and supports the project foreman as needed
- Maintains material files, field record drawings and prepares records as needed
- Assumes additional tasks assigned by senior management or which are logically inherent to this position
Education/Training
- Associate degree in Business Management, Construction Management or Electrical Technology or equivalent on-the-job experience
Knowledge/Experience
- 2+ years’ experience in field supervisory position
- 3+ years’ experience in management position, including estimating and project engineering, and internal control assignments
- 6+ years’ working and studying in the electrical construction industry
- Solid knowledge of National Electric Code, electrical engineering, purchasing/buying, accounting, job cost program/change orders and scheduling
Skills/Abilities
- Strong analytical, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership skills as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent software skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Work efficiently and collaboratively in a fast-paced office setting
- Must be hands-on and capable of working well with limited oversight
- Ability to prioritize many details into a broad view of the total organization
- Ability to work effectively with other engineers, technicians, operators, and management
- Strong analytical, creative t hinking and project management skills
- Ability to multi-task and adaptable to changing priorities
- Self-starter and able to work with minimal direction
