General Duties:

The Regulator Technician Assistant C, through a process of on-the-job training and formal training, will acquire the skills necessary to assist Regulator Technicians as well as perform some independent tasks. Duties will include, but are not limited to, mechanical tasks associate with the installation, operations and maintenance of natural gas pipelines, valving, measurement and regulation equipment, combustible gas and oxygen detectors and gas odor monitoring equipment. The Regulator Technician Assistant C is required to progressively acquire the skills needed to move into the Regulator Technician Assistant B and then A positions. Employees who do not progress will be returned to their original position and grade of pay, if available in their original department. Based on available opening senior qualified Regulator Technician A will be given first consideration to the Regulator Technician position. Failure to do so will result in removal from the Regulator Technician Assistant progression and return to former classification if available.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have good safety habits.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to absorb formal training and schooling.
  • Must successfully complete examination and field tests after training begins.
  • Must have a good attendance record and performance reviews.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license and must be able to acquire and maintain a Class B license.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the California Public Utilities Commission have adopted regulations governing the control of drug use by persons in certain job classifications.  This job is covered by that regulation (49 CFR 199) and candidates who are not already in a covered job classification will be tested for the presence of prohibited drugs and must meet DOT standards before appointment to the job.  Candidates who do not successfully pass the drug test will be required to enter a drug rehabilitation program as a condition of returning to their present job.  Once in the job, successful bidders will be subject to random drug testing.

$80,870.00 / year
