ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND:

Cooperative Laundry is an innovative commercial laundry provider delivering predictable and high-quality services to hotels in the Greater New York Metro regions. Based in Kearny, NJ, Cooperative Laundry utilizes best-in-class laundry equipment, mechanical systems, laundry chemistry, and transportation – along with customized 2.0 software to oversee and ensure steady customer satisfaction with its customers. PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Operations Director assists our General Manager (GM) in creating a scalable infrastructure and operations model for sustainable growth. Operational functions to be carried out; insurance of regulatory compliance, contemporary financial approach, and best practices for manufacturing and customer satisfaction within the industrial laundry business. The Operations Director reports to our General Manager while working closely with the entire operations team. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gain a deep understanding of our customers through the entire lifecycle; pick up, product, processing, delivery, costs, and other special details.
  • Understand processing efficiencies and how to maximize workflow trends day-to-day and year over year based on hotel occupancy and seasonal/historical information.
  • Contemplate and execute operational initiatives through careful review of each stage of the operation. 
  • Oversee communications with customer service managers, corporate managers, production managers, and internal associates.
  • Know daily production metrics and make necessary changes to staffing, work assignments, scheduling, and equipment to ensure all goals are met to our customers satisfaction. 
  • Motivate, Recruit, Develop and Lead all managers and associates.
  • Responsible for time and attendance management, performance reviews, and conflict resolution.
  • Own the budget and be responsible for direct and indirect expenses.
  • Promote and maintain a healthy, safe, and secure work environment in alliance with Cooperative’s engineering, maintenance, and people teams.
  • Ensure the maintenance of all equipment and facilities to OEM standards.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed. 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience within supply chain management, transport logistics, or manufacturing operations.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Process Mapping, MS Office, P&L Experience, and Root Cause/Corrective Action Analysis knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal skills throughout all methods of communication via in person, phone, and digital to foster lasting relationships and the pragmatic acumen to resolve production issues, logistical delays, quality concerns, or personnel issues.
  • A natural leader, educator, and strategist, you thrive where empathy and data intersect to achieve operational efficiency via a passionate and knowledgeable operations team. 
  • The knowledge of regulatory compliance as it pertains to national, state, and local requirements.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and changing environment.
  • A natural communicator that delivers tact and diplomacy is of utmost importance when communicating with large people teams. 
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.  
  • Comfortable preparing spreadsheets and using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to analyze and communicate data and trends.
  • A broad understanding of safety systems, rules, and policies.  

EVEN BETTER IF YOU ALSO BRING:

  • BS in Business, Industrial Management, or Engineering. 
  • Master’s in Business Administration, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or Operations Management.
  • Fluency with English and Spanish.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be available for rotating shift work – some nights, weekends, and holidays may be required to support our 24/7 operation. 
  • Ability to bend, crouch, reach, push/pull, stand for long periods and lift 20 lbs.
  • All workstations are climate-controlled.
  • Some future domestic travel may be required for training and to future locations. 

Salary starting at 120k – commensurate with experience.
