Job Description:
- Working independently under moderate supervision, performs planned and corrective maintenance on electrical, HVAC, mechanical, life safety, and plumbing systems.
- Operates industrial HVAC systems, including chillers, cooling towers, air handlers and pumps. Operates life safety systems, including fire alarm and suppression systems.
- Incumbents are not permitted to deviate from standard practices and procedures, but may be permitted to set priorities, subject to supervisory approval.
Essential Functions
- The essential functions listed represent the major duties of this role, additional duties may be assigned.
- Perform preventive maintenance on building engineering systems.
- Operate and repair HVAC, mechanical, life safety, electrical and plumbing systems.
- Monitor vendor’s performance of major equipment systems maintenance.
- Perform light carpentry work such as painting and sheet rock repairs.
- Monitor and operate critical facilities equipment using Automated Building Management System.
Required:
- 3+ years related work experience or equivalent combination of transferable experience and education
- Building systems (HVAC, electro-mechanical, etc.) maintenance and repair
- Knowledge of chiller plant operations.
- Knowledge of basic electrical operations and maintenance.
- Experience working on a computer in a Windows environment.
- Must meet the requirements to be classified as a Regular Driver in accordance with BCBSFL Company Policy Number 3.21.
- Shift work required – Must be able to work day, night, and weekend shift rotations, including overtime and holidays.
Preferred:
- Experience with emergency generating systems.
- Experience with Automated Building Management Systems.
- Knowledge of UPS systems and operations.
- Experience reading blueprints and Mechanical, Electrical and plumbing plans.
General Physical Demands
- Medium work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
Working Condition
- Must be able to travel to multiple locations for work (i.e. travel to attend meetings, events, conferences).
- May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions of cold, heat, wet, and humidity.
- May be exposed to outdoor or warehouse conditions of loud noises, vibration, fumes, dust, odors, and mists.
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, or other equipment.
Driving Requirement:
- Regular Driving (Regular drivers are employees who are either required by their job description or identified by their manager to operate a Company owned, rented, leased or personal vehicle for Company purposes as a necessary part of their normal job duties).
Required Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
