Full-Time Development Officer
Job Description
Animal Equality is an international organisation working with society, governments and companies to end cruelty to farmed animals. Animal Equality has offices in the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil and India.
The Development Officer plays an important role in meeting the organisation’s ambitious fundraising goals by overseeing the day-to-day management of our supporter platforms, running donor reports, assisting with programmes to engage and retain supporters, researching potential grants and prospective donor profiles, coordinating hard-copy mailings and more.
An organised and quick learner, the successful candidate will support colleagues across Animal Equality’s Marketing, Communications and Philanthropy Departments to optimise the ways in which we manage and engage new and existing supporters, increasing opportunities to unlock future financial growth. In turn, the additional funds generated will enable Animal Equality to achieve its ambitious financial targets and carry out its crucial campaigns to transform the lives of farmed animals.
General Responsibilities
● Provide administrative and operational support: thank supporters in a timely fashion; set-up and schedule emails to our newsletter subscribers and online volunteers; and add blogs and news articles onto our website.
● Manage the upkeep of our fundraising databases: conduct regular database cleansing; maintain supporter, volunteer and executive records with a high degree of accuracy; and help to improve the efficiency of our CRM processes.
● Conduct desk-based research: identify potential giving opportunities by conducting online searches for philanthropic individuals and granting bodies who may have an interest in furthering Animal Equality’s life-saving work.
● Compile reports: collate information and data required to make persuasive cases of support to trusts, foundations and granting bodies. Produce informative interim updates for granting bodies, and prepare reports for internal tracking and review.
● Process Gift Aid claims: compile the necessary records on donors who have expressed eligibility for Gift Aid and claim the payments accordingly.
● Deliver print marketing: gather segmented data for hard-copy mail to be sent to our supporters and handle the logistics of the postal programme.
● Engage with supporters: respond to comments on Animal Equality’s social media and YouTube channels, offering accurate information in a pragmatic, professional way.
● Assist with the implementation of donor stewardship programmes: help the organisation build lasting, meaningful and relevant relationships with supporters, demonstrating the unique importance and value of their contributions. Work closely with relevant colleagues to coordinate personalised programmes for one-off, monthly, and major givers. Coordinate focus-group meet-ups and calls with supporters, enabling Animal Equality to better understand our donor base.
● Brief in content for our video and design teams: using scripts and content formulated by our Communications, Marketing and Philanthropy Departments, brief the planned designs and videos into the relevant international video and design departments, enabling Animal Equality to produce high-quality and engaging public-facing content more frequently.
● Organise supporter events: oversee in-person events to celebrate and appreciate our supporters and donors.
● Orchestrate and inspire community fundraisers: inspire and motivate members of the public to support the charity through fundraisers.
