Full-Time IT Finance Analyst
Job Description
Summary
This position manages the IT financial function by coordinating with IT leadership, finance and vendors to capture, analyze and present budgets, actuals and forecasts. This position also supports the creation of purchase orders, capital expenditure requests and p-card charges. This position represents the centralized financial reporting function within IT.
Essential Functions
- Manages financial budgeting, tracking and forecasting for all opex and project related spend.
- Executes the month end close processes for IT to ensure alignment with generally accepted accounting practices regarding actuals, accruals and adjustments for both projects and opex.
- Partners with finance to represent annual software costs into pro-rated monthly amounts in the form of pre-paid expenses.
- Prepares and submits accruals and miscellaneous journal entries to finance as required.
- Facilitates IT contract renewals with IT owners.
- Coordinates and facilitates the capture of annual cross charge activity (ex: plants, intercompany).
- Monitors newly purchased technologies for potential fixed asset write-off exposure.
- Leads quarterly forecast reviews with all cost center owners to ensure budget exceptions are rationalized, captured and appropriately escalated.
- Partners with FP&A to facilitate expense reduction targets and ad-hoc scenario planning.
- Partners with Technical Accounting to ensure latest capitalization and expense policies are clarified and communicated. Co-collaborate on use cases where non-gaap funding opportunities exist.
- Partners with Procurement and Accounts Payable to ensure latest policies are clarified and communicated throughout IT.
- Processes IT purchase requests via purchase order creation and P-card entries.
- Provides troubleshooting guidance on purchase orders and invoices. Understands the g/l coding relationship at the purchase order / invoice level and implications to the IT financial tracking spreadsheets. May require partnering with Purchasing and Accounts Payable to assist.
- Facilitates capital expenditure request setup and maintenance via budget, actuals and forecasts. Acts as a liaison b/t IT project owners and finance to facilitate inquiries and troubleshooting.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects as requested.
Minimum Requirements
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required. MBA preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience in IT finance.
Skills/Qualifications
- Solid understanding of accounting principles including accruals, capitalization, depreciation, P&L statements, chart of accounts, etc.
- Excellent Excel and presentation skills.
- Skilled in turning numbers into meaningful insights.
- Ability to identify and implement business process improvements.
- Cross-Functional Acumen. Demonstrated ability to interact with leadership in multiple functions expected.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and drive collaboration across the organization.
- Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality results under pressure
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within team environments.
