Full-Time Instructional Technologist
Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE/POSITION SUMMARY
- Develop, implement, and support educational technologies and information resources,
- Assist students and faculty in using these tools,
- Disseminate knowledge of these tools through training and documentation, and
- Maintain the systems that make these tools available to the university community.

JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide consultative advice to faculty to assess teaching and learning needs and the appropriate use of educational technology to meet those needs
- Build online course content in the learning management system, including modules, quizzes, assignments, content pages, and other learning activities
- Create and edit multimedia such as videos, audio recordings, illustrations, or images
- Author course materials that conform to accessibility and inclusive design best practices
- Develop and promote course templates and standardized instructional practices
- Deliver exceptional end-user support to faculty, staff, and students
- Write training and support documentation and create tutorial videos
- Facilitate training sessions for individuals and groups, both in person and via web conferences
- Administer the Canvas learning management system, Panopto video hosting service, Zoom video conferencing platform, and other instructional technologies
- Integrate third-party systems to support seamless learning experiences
- Assist in coding and testing learning platforms and system customizations developed in house
- Troubleshoot problems, perform upgrades, and maintain systems
- Maintain effective practices for data security and protection
QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of teaching and learning technologies
- Working knowledge of instructional design theory and practices
- Working knowledge of online learning and learning management systems
- Working knowledge of video, audiovisual, and web technologies
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite applications
- Ability to communicate effectively in face-to-face and technology-mediated work settings
- Ability to pass a required background screening
- Bachelor’s degree required; a master’s degree in a related field is preferred
- Previous experience with Canvas and/or Panopto is preferred
- Previous web development experience is preferred
