Job Description
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) is a Department of the City and County of San Francisco and consists of three essential service utilities: Water, Power, and Sewer. We are the third largest public utility in California, working in eight California counties, with a combined annual operating and capital budget of nearly $2 billion. The PGA team is responsible for SFPUC’s public policy and political strategy at the local, state and federal level around energy, water, wastewater, infrastructure and related issues. We work in a fast-paced environment, often managing complex and impactful policy issues and projects with multiple moving parts.
Federal and State Policy and Government Affairs Manager (0923 classification)
The Federal and State Policy and Government Affairs (PGA) Manager will coordinate complex policy and government affairs duties for the SFPUC, managing the agency’s federal and state legislative engagement and relationships with elected officials and other stakeholders. They are in charge of developing legislative strategy for advancing policy priorities including in-depth support for SFPUC’s water, power and sewer enterprises. The ideal candidate will have exceptional people and communication skills, experience in coalition building and strategic partnerships to advance policy goals, at least one year of supervisory experience, and be an independent worker who is adept at problem solving and multitasking and demonstrates attention to detail with quick turn-around.
