Reporting to the Vice-President, People & Culture, the DEI Lead is responsible for supporting the advisory, build-out, and the execution of TIFF’s diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy and ensures it’s alignment to the organization’s mission, vision, values, and overall strategic plan. The DEI Lead proactively develops and operationalizes multi-year and impactful organization-wide plans. The DEI Lead reviews policies, processes, and procedures and offers solutions on how to embed DEI principles and practices in all aspects of the organization’s internal and external operations and programs. The DEI Leads determines metrics, monitors and assesses progress, and regularly reports on the status of DEI initiatives and emerging issues to SMT and other colleagues. The DEI Lead will also identify learning needs and support in the development and delivery of education/training sessions for staff pertaining to diversity, equity, inclusion, discrimination, and harassment. 

The incumbent works closely with People and Culture as well as the Senior Management Team and other stakeholders both within the organization and in the external community. The DEI Lead will act as a resource and will provide confidential assistance with case intake for unionized and non-unionized staff. This may include providing information about services, options, relevant policies, and appropriate referrals to staff and leadership. The incumbent represents TIFF publicly at conferences, speaking engagements or other events when needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the development and execution of the D&I strategy
  • Lead the project management of some DEI initiatives such as inclusion councils, action plans and sponsorship programs
  • Overseeing the management of our Employee Resource Groups
  • Advise internal stakeholders on current DEI trends and priorities
  • Create presentation materials to support strategic DEI conversations with a variety of stakeholders 
  • Perform analysis (quantitative and qualitative) of various reports to support business decisions.  Ex. Hiring practices, community outreach
  • Support effective change management and adoption of inclusive practices and considerations 
  • Research industry trends and best practices to ensure a continued focus on the most current and innovative trends to meet our diversity, equity and inclusion commitments.
  • Build internal and external relationships and work with subject matter experts to develop an understanding of the organization’s unique needs and opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships externally in the arts and culture sector and other sectors to understand changing trends and best practices in the areas of diversity, inclusion, equity and accessibility, as well as positioning the TIFF as an inclusive employer of choice

JOB GRADE & SALARY:

  • Job Grade 4
  • $65K-$95K Annually

TARGET START DATE:

  • December 12, 2022

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ideally 5+ years of DEI experience and knowledge on industry trends
  • Deep understanding of and lived experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion with demonstrated ability to turn theory into practical, meaningful action
  • Degree and/or relevant experience in DEI, education, arts management or non-profit leadership or similar expertise
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication capabilities in articulating clear, compelling messages and in tackling complex or sensitive topics with a professional, direct, learning approach
  • Proven educational approach in facilitating and influencing culture change through knowledge of leading practices and legislative requirements, as well as engaging stakeholders in a thoughtful, constructive way
  • Experience with developing and leading anti-racism, homophobia, transphobia, and/or sexual gender diversity education, and providing related support services will be an asset.
  • Passion, an inherent passion for diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Demonstrated cultural intelligence and competence
  • Demonstrated experience working cross functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated abilities to work in ambiguity. You can work in a fast-paced environment with sometimes unpredictable circumstances or changes and make informed decisions without all the information
  • Curiosity. You have an open mind and are keen to learn.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage concurrent priorities 
  • Strong strategic, analytical and creative thinking skills to identify, evaluate  and solve complex problems in an innovative yet practical way
  • Mature personal judgment, exhibiting a high level of professionalism and diplomacy, and ability to handle confidential information
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, CRMs, project and event management programs
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends 
  • Additional language(s) an asset 
  • This position requires being in office 2-3 days a week.
