This is a full-time permanent opportunity for anyone to apply. This is a classified position and is represented by a union.
What you will do!
You will set the technical direction for the enhancement, maintenance, and optimization sophisticated software supporting the mission of the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS). You will work with a team of software engineers to support the maintenance, operations, infrastructure, performance, and security needs of the ODHS Case Management systems.
You will provide high quality expertise to research, analyze, design, develop, integrate, test, and implement various requested changes including infrastructure, bug fixes, performance optimizations, and security enhancements.
You will identify, design, and integrate enhanced system capabilities.
You will assist in the transition of legacy technology and practices to modern frameworks, platforms, architecture, development tools and automated workflows.
You will have frequent contact with business stakeholders, software and systems engineers, technical contractors, and vendors.

What we are looking for:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Please outline in your application and resume how you meet the Minimum Qualifications – failure to do so might disqualify you from consideration)
(a) Seven (7) years of information systems experience in:
Developing / Maintaining PowerBuilder and/or .NET applications and Designing / Maintaining Relational Database Management Systems
OR
(b) An Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND five (5) years of information systems experience in Developing / Maintaining PowerBuilder and/or.NET applications and Designing / Maintaining Relational Database Management Systems
OR
(c) A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND three (3) years of information systems experience in:
Developing / Maintaining PowerBuilder and/or .NET applications and Designing / Maintaining Relational Database Management Systems
OR
(d) Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND one (1) year of information systems experience in Developing / Maintaining PowerBuilder and/or .NET applications and Designing / Maintaining Relational Database Management Systems
Required Skills:
- Advanced level skills developing PowerBuilder and/or .NET applications
- Advanced level skills designing and/or extending Relational Databases
Preferred Skills:
Experience with the following:
- WebSphere
- SQL Anywhere
- SQL Server
- Eclipse
- Git source control concepts
- Migration of enterprise-level legacy applications to modern technologies
- Standard web-based application interfaces
- Agile Software Development Methodologies
- API Integration
- UI/UX Design
- Structured design and development on multiple technology platforms
- Advancing health equity, addressing systemic health disparities, and collaborating with diverse, vulnerable, and underrepresented populations.
