We are currently hiring for the position of:
DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Working closely with the Director, Development and VP, Advancement, the Development Officer is responsible for the management of a portion of TIFF’s major gifts portfolio, which is charged with securing contributions of $25,000 and above in support of TIFF’s year-round and Festival programming and operations.
The Development Officer:
- Develops and executes customized solicitation, upgrade, and retention strategies that generate annual revenue from existing and new sources from corporate, foundation, and other major philanthropic sources.
- Oversees the Moves Management process – working with the Development, Loyalty & Engagement, Corporate Partnership, and other teams, identifies and manages qualified prospects and donors, through cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, donor acknowledgement, and benefit fulfillment.
- Leads support for the development and implementation of Funds and Campaigns
- Works with other revenue generating teams to develop new properties, initiatives, and assets for current and prospective supporters
- Assists with Tribute Awards gala fundraiser pipeline development and sales
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Shall include but not be limited to:
Revenue Generation
- Researches and pursues new corporate philanthropy and foundation funding at the major gifts level, developing, and sustaining long term support of TIFF
- Maintains a thorough and accurate understanding of the organization’s strategic objectives, programs, benefits and funding priorities to effectively connect supporters to funding
- Collaborates with other departments to develop creative funding opportunities and strategies
- Provides key support in the development, implementation, and roll-out of new Campaigns (major and dedicated, e.g. Every Story)
- Works closely with other Development Officer, Director, Development, and VP, Advancement to devise specific strategies, goals, and timetables for successful solicitations.
- Creates compelling, personalized proposals and special solicitation correspondence for presentation to donors and prospects from corporate philanthropic / foundation sources
- Assists with the development and execution of fundraising events, including securing sponsorships and sales for the annual TIFF Tribute Awards fundraiser
- Continuously monitors status of current donors and identifies prospects for new gifts
Donor Relations
- Oversees the stewardship of existing and new corporate philanthropy / foundation funder relationships by ensuring their awareness of, attendance, and participation in TIFF programs and events throughout the year—as well as the year-round impact of their investment.
- Creates tailored impact reports based on impact-driven metrics and narratives.
- Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with TIFF supporters, senior volunteers and other stakeholders.
Administration
- Assists in setting, tracking and achieving fundraising goals for the Development team
- Reports on quarterly fundraising progress, provide information for board reports and assists Director, Advancement in revenue projection for annual budget.
- Working with the Development Team and VP, Advancement, supports the development of the Major Gifts and Tribute pipelines via the identification and assignment of prospects
JOB GRADE & SALARY OR RATE OF PAY:
- Job Grade 3
- $60,000 to $75,000/ Annually
TARGET START DATE:
- November 28, 2022
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the charitable or nonprofit sector, preferably with experience in Major Giving
- Minimum College or University-level post-secondary education
- An interest or background in film, arts or culture is an asset

- Excellent organizational skills, with superior attention to detail.
- adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends
- This position requires being in office on a regular basis.
