Job Description
Summary
These positions are located in BLM Oregon State Office, Abandoned Mine Lands (AML) inventory team for the BLM Oregon/Washington State Office and are responsible for serving as an Archaeologist for inventory, evaluation, and protection of historic mine sites.
This position is concurrently open to Merit Promotion eligibles under Announcement Number OR-22-MP-11626339-KF

Duties
- Develop goals, objectives/plans to direct long-range protection/management of BLM Abandoned Mine Lands (AML) to ensure compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act, and other applicable laws, regulations national policies, and priorities.
- Conduct inventories, which may include compiling and analyzing existing data from institutional files and databases, professional literature, archival and other historical documents, or other indirect sources.
- Plan and execute field surveys at varying intensities; overseeing the field work of other BLM heritage staff, contractors, or permittees; and preparing or reviewing data summaries, analyses, syntheses, and reports.
- Consult with a variety of stakeholders, such as tribes, State Preservation offices, etc., to prepare or review eligibility determination documents and on National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) nominations.
- Develop new or improved techniques, criteria, and/or alternatives for data management to include, but not limited to Abandoned Mine Site Cleanup Module (AMSCM) database, spatial data, and other reports.
- Develop and maintain internal/external working relationships with researchers, subject matter experts, resource specialists, cooperating universities, and partners.
