Full-Time Maintenance/Construction Technician I – ENTRY LEVEL!
Job Description
- Perform skilled work specializing in at least one trade related to the maintenance, repair, and/or construction of buildings, facilities, and associated systems.
- Serve as an entry- to journey-level skilled trades person in an area such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC. Work on moderately-complex projects based on Ferry’s needs. Examples of common assignments include siding/roofing repairs, flooring repairs, exterior/interior lighting repairs/replacement, ferry ramp electrical issue troubleshooting, concrete work, lock/door handle replacement, restroom fixture repairs/replacement, water/wastewater system maintenance, and water/sewage line repairs.
- Willingness to learn various trades.
- Basic organizational, planning, and administrative skills that may be refined as you progress towards higher-level positions with added responsibility.
- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of maintenance and a trade used in this position.
- Working knowledge of the types and uses of tools and equipment used in this role.
- Skill in the safe use and care of tools/equipment used in this role.
- Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- High School/GED diploma; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience in mechanical/building trades.
- This role requires frequent travel, as the service area stretches from Currituck to Brunswick County along the coast.
- Overnight travel is not regular, but will be necessary for certain projects.
- This position reports directly to our Facility Maintenance Supervisor.
- Your initial assignments will involve regular oversight/training from more experienced Maintenance Technicians.
- We may require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal Technician.
