Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire an energetic and detail-oriented licensed Registered Nurse for the Ludeman Developmental Center located in Park Forest, Illinois to evaluate the day-to-day performance of assigned staff. Makes rounds on assigned units to observe and verify the ongoing provisions of a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment are adhered to. Functions as a Nursing Coverage Supervisor, on a rotation basis, to ensure direction and guidance and administrative decision-making is available to nursing personnel at the facility on a 24-hour basis. Job Responsibilities
1. Serves as Nursing Coverage Supervisor for the Ludeman Developmental Center.
2. Serves as full-line supervisor.
3. Functions as a Nursing Coverage Supervisor, on a rotational basis, to ensure direction and guidance and administrative decision-making is available to nursing personnel at the facility on a 24-hour basis.
4. Serves as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team to develop and review nursing services within the context of the Individual Habilitation Plan.
5. Conducts Annual Medical Recertification of assigned staff.
6. Participates in Nursing Supervisor meetings, facility meetings, unit meetings, and committees as scheduled.
7. Serves as liaison for nursing services to physician consultants, community hospitals and clinics, parents, and guardians, as appropriate.
8. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
2. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in nursing.
3. Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience in a public or business organization.
Preferred Qualifications (in priority order)
1.    Three (3) years of professional nursing experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disabilities.
2.    Three (3) years of professional experience supervising professional nursing staff.
3.    Three (3) years of professional experience recommending and implementing nursing policies and procedures relative to the latest trends and nursing standards.
4.    One (1) year of professional experience reviewing program needs, setting priorities, and assigning nursing staff to ensure compliance with standards of care and practice for a public or private organization.
5.    One (1) year of professional experience training nursing staff on nursing care practices and techniques.
6.    One (1) year of professional nursing experience communicating in verbal or written form with patients and/or individuals.
7. . One (1) year of professional experience performing quality assurance assessments on nursing services and treatments provided to patients and/or individuals.
Conditions of Employment
1.    Requires the ability to serve on-call, after business hours, on weekends and holidays on a rotation basis.
2.    Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individuals or others.
3.    Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
4.    Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
5.    Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
