Job Description
Internship Opportunities
Are you a strong team player and keen to kickstart a career in the charity sector? Then this is the role for you!
This is an exciting opportunity for candidates to gain experience in a highly recognised Charity. We are looking to recruit 7 individuals from a wider range of backgrounds to the GOSH Charity internship scheme.
We are offering a 6-month paid placement, starting from 31st October 2022 and with the scheme finishing on 28th April 2023.
This will be a varied role during an exciting time at GOSH Charity. As an intern you will gain experience from working on projects alongside experienced professionals. You’ll provide practical and administrative assistance to the team you’re working with and be happy to get stuck in and learn along the way.
During your 6-month placement with the charity you’ll have the opportunity to come together with fellow interns and be supported by a tailored Learning & Development programme.
About the Team
The intern scheme at GOSH Charity will support several teams across our Fundraising and Impact & Charitable Programmes departments. Your placement will be with one of the following teams: Grant Communications, Grant Funding, Special Events, Partnerships, Supporter Relations, Mass Participation or Community Fundraising. All teams are united by our purpose of transforming the lives of seriously ill children and their families, as well as by our charity values of ‘We are Courageous, we are Curious, and We Care’.
About You
You will want to gain valuable experience in a charity and be happy and willing to muck in and assist in all aspects of the team’s work. You don’t need previous experience, but the ideal candidate will:
– Have communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with different types of colleagues and donors
– Have the ability to react quickly and flexibly, in order to adapt to change or capitalise on new opportunities
– Be a strong team player with the ability to be ‘customer focused’ towards our supporters or grant holders, and to help out when needed
About the Charity
Every day brings new challenges at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Every day, over 600 seriously ill children from across the UK arrive for life-changing treatments. Every day, young lives hang in the balance as patients, families and staff battle the most complex illnesses. And every day, the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs that change the lives of thousands of children – and change the world. This extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support to give seriously ill children the best chance to fulfil their potential. Without donations, Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity can’t help funding ground-breaking research, advanced equipment, child and family support services, and the rebuilding and refurbishment of wards and medical facilities. Our staff help to raise these vital funds for the hospital. A better future for seriously ill children starts with you.
We offer a range of attractive benefits including a flexible approach to working, 30 days holiday, life assurance, enhanced employer pension contributions, and a discounted season ticket loan.
We believe that GOSH Charity should be representative of the communities we work with and for and that we should all be striving for a more diverse and inclusive charity sector. For this reason, we strongly encourage applications from ethnically diverse people, the LGBTQ+ community, disabled people, neurodivergent people and people from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
If there is anything we can do to accommodate your specific situation, please let us know. We are committed to becoming an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. You can read more about our commitments in our EDI strategy on our website. We are a Disability Confident Committed employer, which means we will make reasonable adjustments as required throughout our recruitment process and during your time with us.
If you believe you would add value to Charity but don’t meet all the criteria we have laid out in this advert, we would still love to hear from you.
