Salary Range: $60,000 – $65,000

POSITION DESCRIPTION
AIDS United seeks to hire a dynamic Capacity Building Specialist located in the Midwest for its Strengthening Integrated Approaches to High Impact Prevention in the Midwest Program. This initiative is a five-year cooperative agreement focused on building individual competencies and technical expertise among HIV staff, strengthening organizational capacities, and enabling supportive structural environments to effectively plan, integrate, implement, and sustain the establishment and operation of HIV prevention programs and services within the Midwest region.
The Capacity Building Specialist will develop tailored training modules, webinars, and materials for community-based organizations (CBOs) and health departments across the Midwest region on HIV structural interventions and integrated activities and strategies such as condom distribution, data to care and partner services; lead, either independently or in a team, virtual and in-person technical assistance events; integrate the latest research, policy, and programmatic advances in the areas of trauma, social justice, racial justice, and sexual and reproductive health in designing and delivering technical assistance services to the HIV workforce.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Assistance Development and Delivery
Research, design, and implement in-person and virtual technical assistance and workshops in response to requests from CBOs and health departments in the Midwest;
Lead assessment and planning calls to develop individualized capacity building action plans that are positioned to address identified needs;
Contribute to the development of health promotion materials (including fact sheets, webinars, toolkits, etc.) that are culturally humble; reflective of latest research, health behavior theories, adult learning principles, instructional design, and evidence of best practice; and, responsive to community HIV prevention needs; and
Demonstrate proficiencies in key areas including: HIV prevention, care and treatment, PrEP, community-based service delivery, workshop development, facilitation, harm reduction/syringe services programs(SSPs), LGBTQ health, and organizational development, among others.
Partnership Development
Nurture and manage collaborative efforts, including content development, logistics, marketing, community engagement, and follow-up;
Manage partnerships and key stakeholder relationships with clear written and verbal communication;
Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with funding, consultant, and sub—awardee partners, colleagues, capacity building provider partners, and community stakeholders; and
Represent agency in workgroups and collaborative spaces, and at local, regional and national events.
Program Management
Participate in and contribute to team, department, and organization-wide meetings, reporting, development, work groups, and expansion activities;
Ensure timely and correct documentation and reporting on administrative responsibilities; and
Other duties as assigned related to program monitoring and evaluation.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Three years of relevant experience (e.g. health educator, trainer, consultant, etc.) can be substituted for Bachelor’s degree;
Outstanding written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills;
Detail-oriented with exceptional project & time management skills and ability to work independently;
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and desired experience with Smartsheets and Salesforce;
Demonstrated experience with developing and delivering health-focused trainings/workshops and materials for adult learners;
Bilingual (Spanish) desired; and
Legally eligible to work in the United States.

None
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is generally performed within an office environment and includes significant phone and email engagement with colleagues, CBOs, health department staff, capacity building providers, funding partners, and the wider public. Working conditions when performing remote work may vary. Remote location is required for this position. Relocation expenses will not be covered.
TRAVEL
Position requires heavy travel (10-14+ days per month) to deliver technical assistance and workshops (average 2-3 days in length); and participate in and/or present at conferences and regional meetings, as assigned.
