Full-Time Senior Accountant
Job Description
Cox Automotive is hiring a Senior Accountant. This position will serve as a financial partner within Cox Automotive Accounting department by performing general accounting tasks on a daily basis for expense and balance sheet accounts, providing reconciliation and analysis assistance, and processing high volume journal entries. This position will be expected to gain a detail understanding of several P&L accounts, balance sheet accounts, high volume journal entries and policies.
Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts monthly, resolve issues timely and ensure balances are properly supported and explained.
Support the monthly financial close process by processing the necessary journal entries and performing the required variance analysis. Ensure accuracy and timelines with adherence to the 3 day month-end deadline.
Perform general ledger activities such as journal entries for accruals or expense account reclassifications.
Partner with other departments to ensure all internal controls are adhered to and financial statements are fairly and accurately presented.
Review and analyze monthly activities for accuracy providing recommendations when opportunities for improvement are presented.
Perform account research and analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes.
Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries.
Ensure all accounting procedures, records, and reports conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Prepare Ad Hoc Analyses and complete projects.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
BS/BA in Accounting or Finance preferred
Minimum of 5 years of Accounting/Finance experience preferred
Experience in the automobile or Auction industry desirable
Strong knowledge of GAAP.
Highly detail oriented and organized in work.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interaction skills required.
Effective accounting and organizational skills required.
Excellent computer and software knowledge essential, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, with Oracle, Hyperion, Blackline and AS400 preferred.
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports.
Strong time management skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule
Proven ability to work with all levels in the organization
