Head of North America Fulfillment

What You’ll Do
- The position will require a strategic leader to both develop and manage the people, process and technology that enables a world class fulfillment capability for the North American geography – delivering perfect orders, cost effectively at scale for our customers. The fulfillment network handles small parcel and freight products for the leading home furnishings and décor site; Wayfair.com.
- Lead efforts to aggressively expand the number of fulfillment centers to support Wayfair’s growth trajectory while driving effective network utilization of these centers. Efforts in this area include:
- Support network topology strategy to select sites that support our network plan.
- Bring new sites on-line from construction completion to go live.
- Strategically drive our talent agenda to acquire top supply chain talent to staff and lead the expanding fulfillment network.
- Support and Lead efforts to further define and innovate Wayfair’s fulfillment processes that enable global process standardization.
- Support and lead efforts to further define, innovate and globally scale Wayfair’s fulfillment supply chain technology roadmap, including Wayfair’s own WMS, in addition to other fulfillment systems.
- Monitor and drive key service performance level metrics for fulfillment to ensure that we are providing excellent customer experience and delivering on our promise
- Manage special projects to gather insights into the business and fulfillment center performance; contributing to the critical initiatives of the broader operations group. Learn new workflow technologies and make data driven decisions for project deliverables to support creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives to enable their functional area and ultimately the fulfillment center to meet and exceed business plans.
- Responsibility for the overall safety, quality, performance and customer experience of the fulfillment center operations
- Drive cost improvement activities by identifying system improvements, headcount optimization, and improved square footage utilization opportunities
- Problem solve situations; requiring extensive use of data collection and analysis
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with effective communication and thorough follow through
- Champion Wayfair’s culture through high levels of people engagement
What You’ll Need
- 15+ years work experience or 10+ years post MBA experience preferred
- 10+ years of e-commerce, supply chain, operations, or logistics experience managing large scale; multi site operations. Strong process, manufacturing or engineering background with Six Sigma/Lean experience preferred
- Experience with complex operational, process, and performance improvement projects (lean or six sigma experience highly valued) including process mapping and process re-design
- Ability to think both creatively and critically—willing to think outside the box and challenge the status quo, while also fairly evaluating all possible solutions in making strategic decisions.
- Ability to thrive in an ambiguous, entrepreneurial and subjective environment that balances operational efficiency and data analysis with high quality standards and a sense of what is “right” for the customer and supplier.
- Proven experience and passion for working across functions and with c-level leaders, synthesizing multiple points of view and owning a coherent action plan, all while negotiating and influencing others
- Ability to hit the ground running – a confident, entrepreneurial self-starter with the ability to manage and prioritize projects to delegate tasks appropriately
- Technologically savvy, collaborative confident leader, familiarity with google suite products a plus
- Proven success in developing ideas into executable projects with measurable outcomes.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style based on the audience
- Demonstrated leadership in building a culture of Continuous Improvement for process and operations
