The SEND team is central to scaffolding the support needs of learners with special educational needs and/or disabilities to ensure that every they can achieve their full potential.
As part of our growth strategy, we are recruiting for an Occupational Therapist, a new position within our SEND specialist team to lead, plan and deliver timely and appropriate therapy for students with OT provision specified in their Education and Health Care Plan across all campuses.
This role requires an OT that can demonstrate a sound knowledge and use of a wide range of occupational therapy methods and interventions for young people with autism, learning disabilities and other special educational needs with experience of delivering advice of support within the three tiers, universal, targeted and specialist including detailing lifestyle changes and adaptations to their social and physical environment. Communication with students, parents and key stakeholders will be central to achievement as will training and supporting educational staff on OT methods and interventions and effectively motivating students and staff to engage with the programmes through providing specialist advice especially in the area of specialist equipment, moving and handling and use of hoists.
Candidates should have a relevant Occupational Therapy degree and be a registered member of the HCPC with experience using specialist functional assessments relating to daily living tasks to identify need and recognise potential, using a holistic approach to consider the most effective options to meet those needs. Including methods of managing practical tasks through a problem-solving approach. Experience in managing and co-ordinating a diverse case load across multiple locations, maintaining focus on the key priorities for effective delivery of occupational therapy is essential.
