About UNE
Our Mission
United for a New Economy (UNE) builds people power for racial and economic justice so all Coloradans thrive. We do this by organizing in our communities across race, winning bold policy solutions for all, and building a multiracial voting majority that transforms our economic, political and social system.
Our Vision
UNE envisions vibrant, strong communities with the power to build an economic, political and social system where human lives are valued over profit and our common humanity triumphs over those that try to divide us by race and class.
The Opportunity
United for a New Economy (UNE) is hiring enthusiastic canvassers for an exciting and innovative project about the role community members play in determining whether and how we provide our families the supports and services our families need through taxes.
Canvassers will support this project by engaging in deep listening conversations with voters in Adams County about taxes and Colorado’s approach to state revenue. You will receive training in and utilize the skills of compassionate curiosity and nonjudgmental listening in order to understand people’s thoughts and feelings about taxes and how their personal experience informs their perspectives. You will help to iterate a script that enables more people to have these important conversations about whether everyone is paying their fair share, who benefits from taxes, and what kind of society we want our taxes to help to build and support.
As a canvasser, you will make real connections across lines of race, ethnicity, and income, and contribute to a political culture that prioritizes listening and understanding over judgment and conflict. You will also have the opportunity to support everyday people in understanding that their stories and experiences matter and motivate them to engage in the civic process, so that our democracy reflects and works for all, no exceptions.
