Full-Time Communications Assistant
Job Description
Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention advocacy organization in the nation, is seeking a passionate, dedicated professional to join our team as a Communications Assistant. The position is perfect for an entry-level candidate looking to build a career in communications, advocacy, or public service.
The position supports the communications team, which serves Everytown and all of its divisions – Moms Demand Action, Students Demand Action, the Everytown Survivor Network, Everytown Law, and Mayors Against Illegal Guns, among others.
In this role you will:
- Circulate press clips
- Update press lists
- Track incoming press requests
- Draft media advisories and press releases
- Liaise interdepartmentally and with external vendors
- Assist the team in its day-to-day operations
- Assist with various initiatives and issue beats throughout the organization, including regional communications
You should have:
- 1+ years of experience, including internships, or be a recent college graduate
- Willingness to work with a growing team in a fast-paced, campaign-like environment (including sometimes unpredictable hours and crisis situations)
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities
- Excellent writing abilities
- Bilingual candidates, especially candidates with both verbal and written fluency in Spanish, will be strongly considered
- Position is based in New York City or Washington, D.C., with a hybrid work schedule
Candidates should feel comfortable supporting the work of team members working on tight deadlines and juggling multiple projects at a time.
The salary for this position is $52,500 per year. Everytown offers a generous benefits package including Medical, Dental and Vision, 20 paid vacation days and 10 sick days per year, 401K, Education Assistance and more.
