Full-Time Accounting Assistant II – Auditor’s Office (remote work available)
Job Description
Job Summary
An Associate degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field is preferred although two (2) years of increasingly responsible work experience would suffice. The degree must have been conferred by an institution of higher education and have National Recognition of Accrediting Agencies by the U.S. Secretary of Education, and official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
The ideal candidate will have the following strengths:
- Accounts Payable and payment processing experience
- Experience successfully working in teams
- Effective communicator both written and verbal
- Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word
- 10-Key by touch
- Detail oriented
- Customer Service
- Governmental accounting experience
- Account reconciliation experience
Knowledge of: Theory and practice of governmental accounting, particularly as related to County operations; federal, state and local laws governing accounting procedures and systems; computer applications and automated accounting systems.
Ability to: Plan, implement, and coordinate financial accounting programs; research and analyze accounting data; document financial accounting policies and procedures; communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with the team as well as those contacted in the course of work.
Examples of Duties
- Reviews data, making necessary corrections or instructing departmental staff on making corrections..
- Prepares reports, forms and general correspondence, operates calculators, and enters data into computer system.
- Reviews transactions for compliance with county policies.
- Determines if documentation clearly supports payment of an accounts payable invoice.
- Reconciles accounts.
- Processes payments to suppliers and employees.
- Enters data on behalf of departments to process refunds

Salary Grade: Local 11.504 ($19.37 – $24.70) per hour
