Full-Time Senior Publicist
Job Description
Phaidon is seeking a full-time Senior Publicist based in New York City to work across culinary, interiors, gardening, and lifestyle categories. The candidate will work closely with the Publicity Manager and collaborate with UK colleagues to execute global publicity campaigns.
The successful candidate will be highly organized, self-motivated to meet deadlines, and adept at working in a fast-paced, dynamic publishing environment. This fantastic opportunity offers a chance to work with the world’s most influential artists, designers, chefs, architects, and photographers.
Responsibilities:
- Execute creative publicity campaigns for approximately 10 titles per season
- Pitch national, local, and trade media for reviews and interviews in print, broadcast, and digital
- Cultivate long lasting press relations ships with key contacts
- Communicate and collaborate regularly with UK press contact on global campaigns
- Maintain diligent records of publicity hits, clips, and press quotes
- Write press releases and format in InDesign
- Use Muck Rack to build and maintain media lists
- Available for non-traditional work hours including nights and weekends for author events
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years’ experience in book publicity
- Previous experience in pitching cookbooks, interiors, lifestyle titles a major plus
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Must be able to prioritize, multi-task, and manage time effectively
- An ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and InDesign experience
- Must be based in New York City area
