What we are looking for
The right candidates will work across our research, advisory and inquiries and reviews portfolios.
We are particularly interested in hearing from people:
- With skills in quantitative analysis. Even if you don’t do data analysis yourself, we need you to have a basic comfort with numbers and excel and be willing to develop these skills
- With skills in qualitative research. Experience in conducting interviews, supporting the delivery of focus groups, or conducting thematic analysis of qualitative data is welcomed.
- With a specialism or keen interest in crime and justice policy e.g. in policing, prisons, or probation, or in social justice – for example homelessness, mental health or other issues linked to safer communities
- Who have experience of, or interest in, producing detailed policy analysis and original insights of the sort produced by think-tanks, management consultancies. government departments and charities
- Who are able to combine an ability to see the bigger picture, while retaining a sharp eye for detail
- Who are able to manage a number of research projects and programmes of work and can work at pace to multiple deadlines
- Who are looking for an opportunity to develop their skills within a growing company and want to make a difference by helping to create safer and stronger communities
- From delving into a deeper understanding of victims’ needs for the Crown Prosecution Service, making films and running press offices for high profile legal organisations, researching county lines, maternal imprisonment or the use of stop and search, we work across some of the most important and impactful subject matters in the criminal justice system.

Main Purpose and Scope
- Undertaking high quality quantitative and qualitative analysis and research in service of projects undertaken on behalf of clients and ensure the analysis is presented in a visually compelling way
- Using analysis to produce fresh, cutting-edge insight, both for projects and as part of wider Crest thought leadership efforts
- Working to ensure that Crest is seen as an organisation with the highest standards of analytical rigour and policy insight, with unparalleled expertise in crime and justice issues
- Building partnership and alliances with academics, think-tanks and other like-minded organisations
- Quality assuring analysis produced by team members
- Managing some projects, including liaising with clients and shaping analysis
- Line management of analysts as required
