Our Activation team is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with a passion for building reliable, scalable, and performant software to support the Stash mission. The Activation team aims to help our subscribers begin their wealth building journey by guiding them through the onboarding process and enabling them to make their first investment.
What you’ll do:
- Architect, design, and implement backend services including the core API, backend data processing, and vendor integrations
- Own the end to end delivery of software from inception to production
- Instrument, test, profile, and code review software
- Continuously deploy to our cloud-based infrastructure
- Scale software infrastructure for a quickly-growing user base
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years of professional experience building backend software
- BS/MS in Computer Science or relevant industry experience
- An experienced engineer who can turn ideas into reliable code that others find easy to understand and modify
- Experience building backend APIs and services in a highly collaborative team setting
- Creative problem solver with a passion for testing, debugging, and overall code quality
- Experience with event-based architectures
- Familiarity with or interest in docker, AWS, Terraform, Datadog
- Data-driven decision maker, willing to take risks, fail fast, and iterate quickly
- A keen understanding of testing best practices
- Familiarity with or interest in Ruby, Scala or Kotlin
Gold Stars:
- Experience building distributed applications at scale
- Familiarity with or interest in Kubernetes, Consul, multi-region systems, multi-cloud design
