Position Summary
We are seeking a Full-Time Manager of Cultural Insights and Marketing Strategy to manage the company’s and client growth initiatives through the development and implementation of business strategy and marketing plans. This position requires a strong understanding of cultural pillars, values, attitudes, drivers, and behaviors across key demographic segments of the U.S. population. The ideal candidate for this position is responsible for managing account teams and clients in understanding customer behavior, defining analytics strategy, performing analysis, managing insights projects, developing growth strategies, writing reports, case studies, and providing points of view (POVs) to name a few.
The Cultural Insights and Marketing Strategy Manager will serve as a subject matter expert and be responsible for supporting and executing innovative research and strategic projects/initiatives to reinforce clients’ industry leadership, generate customer insights.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Stay ahead of important cultural trends including values, attitudes, drivers, and behaviors across key market segments
- Manage extensive primary and secondary research on market and industry findings to make recommendations to clients on actions, measurements, and goals
- Manage ad hoc cultural insights activities that identify opportunities for short-term growth, and develop topline tactics in alignment with long-term strategies
- Speak with clients and prospects as a cultural insights expert and a company thought leader
- Manage a team with diverse skill sets, including data analysts, quantitative and qualitative researchers, marketing specialists, and foster a collaborative atmosphere where each person’s strengths are valued
- Work closely with internal/external teams and project leads to create strategies that are informed and inspired by high level cultural insights in support of client growth initiatives, business proposals, and other project scopes of work
- Manage entire studies including design, data analysis and presentation
- Experience using a myriad of third-party tools to help provide texture on culture, the category and consumer behavior; Large scale syndicated databases (e.g. MRI, Simmons, etc.)
- Assess data and intelligence needs for strategy development
- Develop and execute 6P business plans for clients: People (target), Positioning, Product, Price, Place, and Promotions
- Manage day-to-day client communications and secure quality client service while maintaining account profitability
- Relationship management with vendors (i.e., market data, research, etc.) and third-parties
- Ensure adherence to budget and compliance requirements, manage timelines & resources
- Support new business development efforts including, but not limited to preparing briefs, answering RFPs and preparing pitches, lead generation, etc.
Qualifications & Skills
- 4-5 years of experience in Multicultural and Inclusive Segments (preferably Asian and/or African American, LGBTQ)
- Have a deep understanding of Cultural Insights and Consumer trends research
- Have deep expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, with experience of working with big data analysts. Possess a solid understanding of qualitative research procedures (e.g. ethnography, focus groups).
- Have experience managing a team of insights professionals with a diverse mix of qualitative and quantitative expertise and with mixed backgrounds
- Passionate about storytelling about consumers and have created a range of highly inspiring materials to bring consumers to life (e.g. case studies, infographics, personas, etc.).
- Communication and presentation skills are imperative; must excel at narrative development, having a holistic perspective, providing concise/actionable insights, and translating complex information to a non-research audience.
- Experience building business cases using syndicated and non syndicated data (e.g. MRI, Pew, Census)
- Possesses strong problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated and proactive with incredible attention to detail.
- Excellent Project Management skills on medium-to-large projects.
- Bachelor’s degree; masters or graduate degree desirable.
- Ability to sell their ideas and work well autonomously, and as part of a team
