Job Description: Position Summary
The Principal Electrical/Sustainability Engineer is the primary technical resource for the site for all electrical and sustainability design aspects of a major expansion in the Phoenix Manufacturing facility. These responsibilities include the overall technical lead for all upgraded electrical feeds from the local power provider into the site to assure they are properly designed, sized, able to be properly maintained, and meet the Client design standards. In addition, the position is responsible for coordination with A&E and Construction Management firms to assure proper electrical design is incorporated for all aspects of the expansion project.
The Principal Electrical/Sustainability Engineer will also provide support to other engineers on the project with equipment responsibilities to assure the equipment electrical needs are aligned.
Other responsibilities of the position are related to Sustainability. The implementation of sustainability measures as a part of the site expansion efforts will be coordinated and reviewed through this position. The position is responsible for challenging the project approach to assure sustainability is a primary consideration as a critical element of the project. These responsibilities can include the implementation of solar at the site, any potential water conservation measures, and other sustainability opportunities.
The position will work closely with the construction management group and 3rd party suppliers to align with sustainability deliverables and the integration of them into the overall project schedule.
Required Competencies: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Advanced knowledge of electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS, automatic transfer switches, and power distribution equipment up to 480 volts.
• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems and their installation
• Ability to read electrical schematics and ladder logic.
• Advance knowledge of equipment power requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of plant assets including production equipment, utilities, HVAC, and facilities and their power requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of cGMP, GAMP, and OSHA regulations, National Electric Code, NFPA-70E, ANSI standards, and IEEE design standards.
• Advanced knowledge of all regulatory agencies that govern aseptic manufacturing operations.
• Working knowledge of sustainability fundamentals.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interpret/write complex business documents.
• Strong people skills required to work effectively with and support diverse personality types.
• Ability to develop, delegate, and motivate others.
• Advanced presentation development and delivery skills.
• Advanced critical reasoning and decision-making skills.

Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for all technical aspects of the electrical design of the site expansion project.
• Responsible for the upgraded electrical infeed system to the facility to meet the Client design standards.
• Assurance that all electrical infrastructures are properly designed and sized to meet the needs of new equipment installations, including production equipment, facilities, utilities equipment and warehousing operations.
• Work with Client equipment engineers to assure proper electrical support is provided and aligned with the overall installation strategy.
• Responsible for the internal running of electrical projects. Accountable for project initiation, planning, and overseeing project execution, implementation, and closeout.
• Responsible for the creation/revision of engineering drawings and specifications.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field or other science related field preferred.
• 7 years of relevant work experience required, preferably in a pharmaceutical or engineering environment.
• An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may substitute.
• Certified Energy Management credential preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of power distribution systems.
• Working knowledge of Aseptic processing equipment.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical, utility, manufacturing, and other plant systems.
• Advanced knowledge of quality control systems, cGMP engineering design practices, equipment installation techniques including sustainability opportunities, GAMP principles, OSHA regulations, and Factory Mutual requirements.
• Motivated at solving challenging project issues with the ability to develop creative solutions.
• Exhibits project leadership and effective decision-making abilities throughout a project while including key stakeholders.
