Full-Time Data Privacy Lawyer

Job Description

One of our clients, a leading telecom company is looking for a Data Privacy Lawyer to join them for a 6 month interim contract, starting as soon as possible.

You’ll Have The Following Responsibilities

  • All legal issues in relation to data protection, privacy, data retention, data ethics and any other issues
  • Providing accurate and timely legal advice, analysis and support based on a combined understanding of commercial strategy the legal environment, acting as a single point of contact for an assigned topic/area of the business where relevant
  • Providing strategic input on new products and services to ensure data protection and strategy objectives are met and implemented across the Group
  • Advising on implications of upcoming legislative changes and statutory codes of practice
  • Ensuring in-life policy changes and updates to precedents brought about by changes to data privacy legislation are incorporated and understood across all CFUs in
  • Working with the CFU/CU to embed the application of Privacy by Design and seek to ensure that the use of technology, platforms and applications promotes data protection compliance
  • Instructing and managing external Counsel in line with agreed scope and budget, where appropriate
  • Drafting and negotiating complex data protection provisions in supplier, customer and partner agreements
  • Working on projects aimed at transformation/remediation of data privacy systems and processes
  • Advising and partnering directly with business stakeholders
  • Conducting complex escalated PIA and DPIAs

You’ll Have The Following Skills & Experience

  • Experienced, first class technical lawyer with expertise in data and privacy law.
  • Ability to provide clear, concise and practical legal advice and support with a high degree of professionalism
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to communicate effectively with the highest levels of management and decision-making within the organization
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks and projects
  • Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of the value drivers of the business
  • Creative problem solving and solutioning abilities
  • Ability to remain calm and controlled in fast and pressurised environment
  • Strong team player
