Job Description

Position Description:
The Sr. UI/UX Designer role will help drive product improvement in a mission aligned way by ensuring that Alluma centers the voices and needs of those who use our technology and by delivering excellent designs informed by our community. This role will be focused both on our product innovation efforts as well as on client-driven projects. This position is part of the Product & Community Success department, which is responsible for developing our product roadmap from community input, conducting community outreach, and providing community support. This role will also work with our product leadership team and customers, clients and partners to ensure mission, process, and brand alignment in all work.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Design and lead user research efforts with the communities we serve, primarily Women of Color
- Lead the design and UX work on our One Degree platform, a one-stop website and app for community resources
- Establish UX work quality standards and processes that uphold good research and design execution
- Investigate, gather, and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers
- Manage UX contractor, including goal setting and performance
- Provide guidance, vision and support to product teams as needed for project, client, and innovation work
- Contribute to business development, proposal writing, and project scoping
- Provide leadership to the product team on innovation discovery and ideation work
- Develop expertise in Community Information and Referral networks and the populations served by Alluma
- Help foster a culture of innovation
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience with UX
- Expert grasp of human centered design practices, research methods, and usability principles
- Portfolio includes business to business and consumer-facing work, showing complex applications, mobile apps, and/or responsive web designs (commensurate with years’ experience)
- Work demonstrates the application of user needs and usability principles
- Able to teach human centered design and usability principles to organizational and client audiences
- Demonstrated project management and leadership skills
- Experience with ADA standards and their implementation and application online
- Experience delivering UX work within Agile/Scrum methodologies
Education/Training Requirements:
- Prefer a Bachelor/Master degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Information Design, Visual Design, or a related subject but not required. Alternate career and learning paths welcomed.
