  3. Speaking, Teaching & Thought Leadership:  We present on a wide range of topics that focus on board governance, board and CEO leadership, and board effectiveness, as well as other related topics. Our two formal training programs are:
    • BoardLearn: Our suite of online and live learning experiences provide newly elected board members with the knowledge they need to step into the board room with confidence on day one.
    • Advanced Governance Training: Our team of expert governance trainers provides advanced training on various governance topics for corporate, foundation and nonprofit partners looking to hone their skills in the boardroom.

DESCRIPTION​ &​ ​RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Cause Strategy Partners seeks a wildly talented, deeply passionate and incredibly fun mission-driven professional to join our team. The Program Specialist will work closely with the Senior Program Associate focused on Concierge and Custom Engagements, in order to support professionals from Fortune 500 companies, philanthropic foundations and nonprofit organizations to drive high-impact nonprofit board placement, training and support.

 

In the first few months in this role, the Program Specialist will support ongoing customized rounds of BoardLead, support data collection as rounds of BoardLead close, and conduct research on nonprofits and nonprofit conveners to support potential future partnerships. After six months in this role, the Program Specialist will lead the process of building tools for new and ongoing special projects, support external relationship building and management, and will provide regular thoughtful feedback on systems and processes to improve our work. 

 

The Program Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the process of identifying, securing and managing nonprofit strategic partnerships, including:
    • Conducting research on nonprofit membership and convening organizations
    • Supporting logistics including processing nonprofit nomination lists from partners, and providing updates to the Senior Program Associate on application rates, nonprofit selection, and candidate elections
    • Contributing to the development of collateral to support these partnerships
    • Where appropriate, helping to identify potential creative partnership opportunities beyond nonprofit recruitment
  • Providing critical support to Cause Strategy Partners’ Concierge program, including:
    • Working closely with the Senior Program Associate, supporting their leadership of concierge, including:
      • Conducting research to identify potential nonprofit board seats for C-suite professionals from Fortune 500 companies
      • Building tools, supporting processes and advancing systems to support the full cycle of a professional’s experience with Concierge
      • Organizing and analyzing data to measure outcomes
      • Where appropriate, providing feedback on systems and processes to refine program design and success
  • Supporting special projects as they arise; example projects include:
    • Supporting BoardLead end-of-round and 1- & 2-year evaluation efforts, in particular through data management, analysis, and synthesis
    • Supporting customized rounds of BoardLead, by conducting outreach to nonprofits, supporting building matching and tracking tools, and managing outcomes data
    • Conducting nonprofit and market research
  • As appropriate, supporting limited BoardLead program delivery, including: 
    • Providing research, outreach, data analysis, and/or feedback support for ongoing rounds of BoardLead, as necessary
  • Collaborating with the BoardLead and Cause Strategy Partners team in our commitment to continuous learning and optimization as we strengthen the tools, systems, and processes used to execute all programs by:
    • Sharing and documenting feedback on all phases of program preparation and execution
  • Supporting ongoing internal and external engagements in partnership with the Cause Strategy Partners team
  • Performing other duties as necessary and assigned

 

DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

The Program Specialist selected to fill this position will report into the BoardLead team. The individual(s) selected to fill this important position will be expected to perform their work in accord with the values of Cause Strategy Partners, and to have an understanding and belief in the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. They must be adept at a number of core competencies, including: 

  1. Strong verbal and written communicator: The Program Specialist should be an effective, clear, and professional communicator, with an ability to make quick connections, leave positive impressions, and build positive relationships with a variety of external stakeholders, especially a nonprofit audience.
  2. Detail & deadline oriented: Ability to manage workflow effectively, to track and keep tight deadlines.
  3. Possess technological and design prowess: The candidate must be skilled in building and using effective program management and team management tools. Ideally, the candidate should be experienced with Google Suite, including Google Sheets.
  4. Highly efficient & organized self-starter: The Program Specialist will be expected to take responsibility for tasks and work both independently and collaboratively across the programs team. They will demonstrate the ability to manage workflow independently, effectively, and with excellence.
  5. Possess social sector experience: Nonprofit governance is our passion; a familiarity with and understanding of the social good sector, either related to corporate social responsibility or nonprofits, is strongly preferred.
  6. Creative & open team player: The Program Specialist will embody a sense of positivity and openness, embracing creativity and the sharing of ideas within teams. They will embody a sense of positivity, enthusiasm, and team-building characteristics.

 

Please​ ​note​ ​the​ ​following​ ​expectations​ ​for​ this role:

  • Part-time employment opportunity, with an expectation or working approximately 25 hours per week.
  • Work will be performed virtually. The Program Specialist will be responsible for using their own computer, phone and other necessary technology. Google Voice services can be provided.
  • The target start date for this role is May/June 2022.

 

COMPENSATION

The Program Specialist will be compensated $20 – $25 per hour, commensurate with experience.
