Job Description

and system leader capacity to break down barriers to increase participation, belonging, and success in
rigorous college- and career-prep secondary school courses for students of color and low-income
students. They provide customized data analytics, student identification tools, and consulting for partner
schools and districts to build equitable systems that acknowledge, support, nurture, and grow the talent
and genius of students of color and low-income students.
We’re looking for a key financial steward who facilitates financially sound decision-making and oversees an incredibly
strong team in operations and finance to ensure this mission driven non-profit continues to grow and
thrive.
Reporting to the CEO, and Board of Directors, this leader will partner with Senior leadership to support
EOS as a revenue generating nonprofit organization.
Responsibilities
• Lead the development and execution of financial planning and analysis to define and analyze
budgets, forecasts, and controls to ensure efficiencies and adherence to corporate KPIs
• Oversee accounting, general ledger, financial reporting and operations functions, ensuring that
systems are in place to guarantee timeliness and accuracy
• Assess, design, and implement finance and accounting policies and internal controls with expert
knowledge of applicable legal requirements and regulations
• Build relationship with external donors, consultants, auditors, and banks to keep abreast of EOS’s
major expenditures and sources of revenue
• Advise the CEO and other key stakeholders on financial matters, investment priorities, and internal
policy matters
• Identify short and long-term financing needs concerning proposed strategies, profit, and capital
plans; recommend appropriate strategies to the CEO
• Partner with the CEO and Executive team to identify KPI’s and drive the annual budgeting and
strategic financial planning process across the organization
• Identify high impact business value drivers to improve overall financial position and manage the
balance sheet
• Explore opportunities to generate income through grants, philanthropic opportunities, investments,
generating regular reports to monitor, evaluate and optimize cash-flow and liquidity
• Build partnerships across the organization, empowering each functional area to make better
financial decisions
• Provide strategic management and oversight of financial reporting and company funds, including
budgeting, forecasting, benchmarking, tracking and cash-flow
• Utilize expertise and analytics to drive process improvements, find efficiencies and reduce waste
throughout the organization
• Manage relationships with outside council, financial advisors, insurers, banks, and auditors
• Refine and streamline administrative and operational accounting services such as cash
management, grants payment processing, payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing
• Represent EOS externally, particularly in banking and lease negotiations
• Oversee and direct the work of a team of five, including finance and accounting, and operations
functions
Requirements
• 10+ years of Financial Planning and Analysis, with experience leading of accounting and finance
with oversight of operations
• Strong people management and coaching skills with the ability to recruit, retain, and develop a
talented finance and accounting team along with progressive operational initiatives
• Outstanding leader with proven ability to manage an evolving business while developing and
implementing organizational changes
• Experience working with external auditors, compliance and regulatory oversight
• Demonstrated experience gathering and evaluating financial information and partnering with a
CEO, and Boards of Directors on key decisions
• Experience working with financial systems and managing finance (i.e., accounting, budgeting,
control, and reporting) with multiple funding sources
• Experience in overseeing investments, familiarity with bequests, restricted gifts, and fiscal
sponsorship, would be preferred but not required
• Excellent analytic reasoning, problem-solving and organizational skills
• Strong history demonstrating a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, both in internal
interactions and in approaches to processes such as vendor selection
• Strong passion for equity for diversity and low-income students to gain access to advanced placement
educational opportunities
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus
