Full-Time Public Works- Intelligent Transportation System -ITS Traffic Engineer

Job Summary
Public Works has spent the last 12 years building a world class traffic signal and Intelligent
Transportation System (ITS) system. You will continue the trend, pushing the technology to
improve safety and mobility for the residents of Clark County. You will be a part of a progressive team of engineers and technicians who are working to improve the safety and mobility of the public road system in Clark County.
Please note that this position is open to a range of possible career experiences and can be
underfilled as an Engineer II/III position. In the event that this occurs, then there will be a
reclassification process.
Qualifications
Possession of a valid driver’s license upon date of hire.
Engineer II:
- Bachelor’s in Science degree from an accredited institution in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and 2 years related work OR High School diploma or G.E.D. and four (4) years relative engineering work experience to include a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an Engineering I classification or equivalent and possession of an E.I.T. certification.
- A valid driver’s license
Engineer III:
- Bachelor’s in Science degree from an accredited institution in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and 2 years related work and a Professional Engineer’s license in the State of Washington, or the ability to obtain the PE license in Washington within 6 months of hire.
- A valid driver’s license
Traffic Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in traffic engineering, civil engineering, or a closely related field – and – two (2) years of experience in an Engineer III or equivalent position. o Registration as a professional civil engineer.
Certification as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) is highly desired

Salary Grade: Local 17 Engineers.214 ($38.58 – $49.23) per hour
