DC Design – Posted by aluo Anywhere

Job Description

Project Description:

DC Design is working with a major medical organization to understand what systemic inequities are impacting the experience of underrepresented learners applying, enrolling, and graduating from medical school. As human-centered-design practitioners, our job is to facilitate an in-depth, comprehensive process that will not only center the nuance found within the journey of Black/African American, American Indian and Alaska Native, and first-generation learners, but also identify opportunities for the traditional medical model to become more responsive to the unique needs of these groups. As a team, we will be engaging in:

  • Reviewing the wealth of prior research our client has collected relevant to underrepresented learners;
  • Conducting further research on the historical experience of the chosen populations when it comes to entering the medical profession in order to understand what historical factors must be accounted for today;
  • Working with our client’s team to further analyze and map stakeholders;
  • And conducting direct ethnographic research with Black, Native, and first generation communities through one-on-one interviews, focus-groups, video engagement methods, and other digital means.
  • The end result of DC Design’s work will include the creation of an actionable plan for increasing the matriculation and retention of Black, Native, and first generation students in medicine. Results will be synthesized into a final report that includes the short term and long-term high-priority opportunities the client should explore to most immediately and deeply affect change in this space.
