About us

The Property Ombudsman provides a free to use, impartial and independent service, helping to resolve disputes between Consumers and Property Agents. We are the largest Ombudsman scheme in the sector and the only one to operate Codes of Practice to raise standards and share best practice in the industry.  As a not-for-profit organisation we have been providing a free to use and impartial dispute resolution service since 1990.

Location:

Remote (with occasional travel to Salisbury) or office based (Salisbury)

Job Summary

Working with the Director of Operations you will be responsible for the effective delivery of the administration support

and information governance functions, as well as ensuring the IT and physical infrastructure is operating effectively to

support the business. As a member of the Middle Management team, you will take collective responsibility for the day

to day running of the business.

You will be required to develop strategy, policy, and guidance to ensure best practice in information security and information governance, including effective compliance with relevant legislation and regulation. Working with our IT partners to ensure cyber security needs are met and risks mitigated, as well as ensuring effective document control and management of data is implemented across the business and provide clear exceptions reporting on all issues of non-compliance regarding information governance matters.

Responsible for the management and development of the operations and administrative support teams, ensuring the effective administration of casework, meeting performance targets and encouraging improvements in efficiency and effectiveness. With a passion for excellent customer service and standards, you will ensure that the support service provided to both internal and external customers is first class and ensures the consumer is at the heart of our process.

What we are looking for

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong management and excellent leadership skills with a proven track record of managing and motivating teams across different areas of activity.
  • Experience of managing remote teams would be advantageous.
  • A leader focused on coaching and developing their team to its full potential.
  • Critical thinking skills and a robust approach to excellent administration principles.
  • A well-developed knowledge and understanding of information governance practice and data protection legislation, policy, and guidance to a standard of being able to give practical, current, and wide-ranging advice to others in the workplace.
  • Experience of information governance accompanied by a willingness to undertake relevant (further) qualifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to present findings in an engaging and compelling way that enables robust decision making.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • To be positive, flexible, and resilient to achieve success in challenging situations.
  • Excellent planning and organising skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet targets.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Team player.
  • Excellent communications skills, written and verbal.
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively and achieve results whilst working remotely.

Job Types: Full-Time. Salaries: 20,000 - 40,000.
