Full-Time Senior Development Officer
Job Description
The Senior Development Officer will help guide the organization’s development strategy and advance efforts to secure top-level financial support from individuals. The Senior Development Officer will contribute to a development operation that is strategically meeting immediate and long-term fundraising needs. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Senior Development Officer will work with highly dedicated leaders across the organization to create and implement an integrated development strategy, sustaining current donor relationships and cultivating new opportunities to support USofCare.
A strong candidate will have demonstrated experience in securing major gifts in the five- and six-figure range from a variety of stakeholders; a strong fundraising background working with nonprofits and foundations; an entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm to work in a fast-paced environment; and proven ability to meet year-over-year financial growth in support of the strategic direction of the organization. This position requires up to 20% travel and occasional work on weekends and evenings.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Implement, and oversee a development strategy to achieve significant revenue goals to support the strategic direction of US of Care;
- Develop and execute immediate and long-term programs and plans to increase giving and develop sustainable pipelines of funding;
- Plan and implement US of Care’s fundraising strategies, which may include annual appeals, major donor programs, events, and other fundraising efforts;
- Thoroughly understand and articulate US of Care’s mission, programs, policies, culture, values, key stakeholders, and financial strategy;
- Develop and implement strategies to leverage US of Care’s volunteer boards and councils in key fundraising activities;
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteer council donor to support fundraising program strategies;
- Solicit and steward high net worth individuals for multi-year support and investment;
- Initiate stewardship, renewal, and communication strategies for existing donors;
- Collaborate in the creation and editing of solicitation letters and individual donor proposals;
- Ensure that the organization has a highly functioning, robust system of processes in place for maintaining fundraising collateral, record keeping, stewardship, and management of donor relations;
- Stay abreast of philanthropic, economic, social, and educational trends related to fundraising and healthcare issues;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of development experience. Preference for non-profit development experience but not required;
- Deep understanding of nonprofit fundraising and program implementation;
- Passion for US of Care’s mission to ensure that everyone has access to quality, affordable health care regardless of health status, social need, or income;
- Proven track record of securing large contributions of five- and six-figures from individuals;
- Demonstrated ability to influence and engage diverse audiences and to build long-term relationships, including experience leveraging executive-level staff and volunteers to achieve fundraising success;
- Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs;
- Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with US of Care’s senior leadership, Founders Council, donors, and staff;
- Experience in creating and editing proposals, and fundraising solicitation decks;
- A leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising and development initiatives;
- Unimpeachable ethical standards, confidentiality, and personal integrity;
- Proficient in G Suite, Microsoft Office, and experience with fundraising CRM’s required;
- Bachelor’s degree required;
- Commitment to prioritizing diversity equity and inclusion principles in all your work, including utilizing organization’s equity lens to inform all work.
Compensation and Location
United States of Care offers a generous benefits package including mental, dental, and vision insurance; 403b with match and flexible paid time off. A full summary of benefits is available upon request. This position is full-time and fully remote. Candidates may be located anywhere in the United States. The salary range for this position is $83,000 – $95,000 depending on experience and location.
The position is open until filled, and the hiring committee will begin screening applications on a rolling basis as they are received, with intention to make an offer by March 30, 2022.
