Full-Time Corporate Relations Officer

Job Description

A Northwest leader in protecting animals since 1967, the Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) shelters homeless animals, rehabilitates injured and orphaned wildlife, and empowers people to demonstrate compassion and respect for animals in their daily lives.

Position Title: Corporate Relations Officer

Reports to: Director of Philanthropy & Events

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Corporate Relations Officer is responsible for cultivating and growing relationships with companies and their management teams and employees that seek to support the life-saving work of PAWS. This team member is tasked with securing corporate sponsors for PAWS’ signature events, assisting businesses with third-party fundraisers, and growing the workplace giving program.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
In accordance with organizational policies, duties include but are not limited to:
• Research and identify new partners who may be interested in the PAWS mission and programs.
• Build and manage a portfolio of 80 to 100 corporate partners to support financial and relationship-building goals.
• Initiate, cultivate, and manage relationships with new and current corporate partners.
• Collaborate with the Associate Director of Events on event sponsorship strategies and secure sponsorships for PAWS signature events.
• Partner with the grant writing team to produce grant applications and reports for corporate funders.
• Coordinate with program and administrative staff as it relates to corporate fundraising activities.
• Design a corporate third-party fundraising program that supports businesses looking to raise funds for PAWS.
• In collaboration with the Associate Director of Communications, create a process for vetting cause marketing partnership requests and negotiating with interested companies.
• Formalize PAWS’ workplace giving strategy and engage businesses to grow workplace giving revenue.
• Maintain constituent contact information and record activity reports in the donor database.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Creates summary reports and analyzes trends in the corporate giving program.
• Participates in the conceptual design, writing, and production of proposals, informational materials, gift agreements, and other materials needed to secure corporate support.
• Coordinates the participation of PAWS leadership team, Board of Directors, leadership volunteers, and staff in fundraising activities.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
CONTROLS OVER WORK:
This position works under the general guidance of the Director of Philanthropy & Events and is expected to pursue the established duties without direct supervision.
This is a hybrid position. The Corporate Relations Officer will work remotely and is expected to visit PAWS locations when necessary (e.g., donor tours).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to sit for long periods of time working at a computer. Work is performed both in and out of the PAWS facility. Some local travel required.

REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• At least five years of successful fund development experience, with an emphasis on cultivating and securing corporate support.
• Excellent verbal and writing skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team to serve as a knowledgeable and enthusiastic ambassador for PAWS.
• Possess excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills and works effectively and respectfully with diverse groups of people.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
• Team-oriented, proactive, and flexible.
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with donor database software and tracking systems.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and have a tactful, mature, and sincere attitude.
• Ability to work with clearly defined goals, and plan and organize efforts to achieve objectives.
• Fundraising experience in the animal welfare or environmental fields is desirable, but not necessary.
• A sincere interest in supporting the mission and values of PAWS.
• Must exemplify the values of the organization in all interactions with coworkers and members of the public, including respect, trust, compassion, commitment, and kindness.
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid Washington driver’s license with no major or repeated minor traffic offenses and auto-insurance with required coverage limits.
